You hear about the cave??
In Thailand a bunch of kids have been trapped in a cave for 9 days. These British Cave diver/rescue divers went into the cave system and found them alive after 9 days.
Amazing.
I think to be a cave diver you would have to have some serious stones[;)]

I have done a lot of crazy crap in my life but there is no way I would dive in a cave.
Hats off to those guys.

yea, following it some. Who is the idiot that sent them in with torrid rain heading their way. These kids are two miles in, for the love of God, common sense? 0 -
Glad they're safe but some of the things people do really make me wonder!
They also put rescue workers in great jeopardy.[V]0 -
can you imagine the 9 days in the dark. Woser 0 -
I don't understand why they can't get them out, I would think unless the passages are tiny you could strap a tank on each kid and guide them out? 0 -
Kind a wondering if the coach will killed I men accidently die in the cave or out? Kind a supervised the team hadn't had a blanket party on his dumbass or the birthday boy. At least they had cake. 0 -
I am not a fan of caves. Did a few trips in the deserts in Idaho. I found out that it was not for me. They are a whole new meaning to dark 0 -

some of kids don't know how to swim, and the "water" is actually thin mud, no visibility. Insane that the divers went into that blind to begin with, some serious love of you fellow man. if you are depending on me for that job you are SOL.0 -
I was lost in a cave for like 4-6 hours once when a teen ager and did not have a watch and did not know if I had been in for hours or days.
Went into some parts of the cave that no person had ever been, because thin limestone layers above the floor water that would leave holes through the limestone when stepped on.
When got back to a main passage some AH[}:)] scribbled EXIT arrows on the wall pointing the WRONG way. Took awhile to get the message that that AH[}:)] was doing something that I would do to others also.
Seen some salamanders that were a clear color like jelly, probably due to not ever seeing sunlight or from the very cold UG water.0 -
Diving in poor vis is stressful. In my younger years I did some shipwreck diving. Once you go down a few decks and into the engine room or any of the cabins it is PITCH black without your light. It isn't like in the movies where there is always some dim light. It is BLACK. I once explored some inside a Japanese sub on the bottom of the Pacific. Today I would be a bit more cautious. Low vis diving is for the young and reckless. [:D] It is a very nice, but very improbable result, them finding the kids that far into an underwater cave. Good on them. 0 -
I hope they make it. My brother is involved from the US side.
Its intense.
Basically they had been in them before together- they entered and heavy rains flooded their exit.0 -
Damn. What a story.
When I was in Explorer Scouts in 1964 we explored a cave in north Georgia. There was not a park, there were no signs.
Just a place to park on the side of the road. You went up a mountain about 100 yards on a path and there was a six foot high hole in the side of the mountain.
Our Advisor tied a rope to a pine tree and threw it into the cave and we climbed down the rope. No harness, no helmet. Fifty feet down into the black hole. I went first.
We had flashlights, we probably went a quarter mile back into the cave. Damn, it was dark and scary I was glad to get out of there.
On another occasion, I was in college, we were down in Florida doing skin diving and scuba diving.
We were in a crystal clear spring in Florida, this was a park and lots of people went diving in this spring. Probably 200 feet wide and 60 feet deep.
A bright sunny day I swam down to the bottom of the spring with my scuba gear. And there at the bottom was the entrance to a cave.
A damn underwater cave sixty feet below the surface.
I was intrigued. I swam into the cave opening, I went in about one foot. It was so dark, it was very scary. I went no further and swam back out into the bright sunshine. I do not want to go into a cave while using scuba gear it is very scary.
There is a big scuba club at Ga. Tech and they go down to dive Florida springs and caves every year. Every few years you read about one or two of those Ga. Tech guys dying in those flooded caves it is some dangerous stuff.0 -

Read the part about Kin Kannon-do Temple and Cave. Got drunk in Kinville and for some stupid reason decided to explore the cave at night in the dark and only a lighter for light. Young and dumb.0 -
I did the tourist trap cave trips in SD. Creepy, did not enjoy myself.
Never gonna get me in another one![V]0 -

Diver dies trying to free boys trapped in cave
By David K. Li, Tamar Lapin and Ruth Brown July 5, 2018 | 10:56pm | Updated
A former Thai Navy SEAL diver was killed Friday while delivering oxygen tanks to the Tham Luang cave complex in preparation for a possible underwater rescue of a boys soccer team trapped inside, authorities said.
Diver Samarn Kunan, 38, ran out of his own oxygen as he was placing the tanks throughout the cave in a desperate attempt by Thai authorities to eventually ferry the boys out with scuba gear, officials said.
?It was sad news, a former SEAL who volunteered to help died last night,? Chiang rai deputy governor Passakorn Boonyaluck told reporters.
?His job was to deliver oxygen. He did not have enough on his way back.?
Despite the tragic setback, Thai officials still believe they?re getting close to rescuing the trapped boys and their soccer coach.
?But even though we have lost one man, we still have faith to carry out our work,? said SEAL commander and Rear Adm. Arpakorn Yookongkaew.
Earlier on Thursday, rescue operations suffered another setback when bonehead volunteers accidentally pumped water back into the cave where the boys are trapped.
With crews furiously pumping water out, the unregistered group directed the extracted water back into the ground instead of into nearby rice fields, resulting in a stream returning to the northern Tham Luang cavern complex and hindering rescue efforts, an official said.
?They may have some belief that their technique is effective for groundwater drainage,? the rescue operation?s commander, Narongsak Osotthanakorn said, according to the Bangkok Post.
?Anything that is not in the plan must be discussed with us first.?0 -
I can hope for the rescue but I can only imagine the cluster F with so many different nations involved. Yea, great that they all there but "whose in charge" ideology comes to mind- 0 -

I've been in Thailand and know what the monsoon season is like there...rains so hard you can't see your hand in front of your face.
Only a complete IDIOT would take a group of kids 1.5 miles into a cave during the monsoon season in Thailand.
[}:)]
Right. We already know he is weak upstairs.
If he were the only one to not come out alive, now that would be suspicious, but ok with me.[;)]
AND yes, so many rescuers involved, that would have to be a cluster XX type thing. By cluster you know what I really mean.[;)]0
