i have seen weapons control proposals that would ban and criminalize my 30/50/100-22 ruger 22lr....bye bye miss american 2nd ......since kansas went to a demo governor i asked my district rep if he thought a control or ban issue would soon be on the table and his reply was a negative since both demos and dissatisfied repubs had elected her and she would focus on other issues ..in his 2cts ??? 0 -

It is the only logical option if one wants to get these rifles off the street.
To be in any way effective, an AWB would have to get as many of the existing guns out of the hands of the citizen and place them into the hands of the collective. To believe otherwise, to believe that compromise in any fashion will protect your children's and grandchildren's liberty is foolishness.
From the left's standpoint, it is imperative to get firearms out of the reach of people who may use them improperly. As we cannot predict who will use them improperly, it stands to reason that all must be denied access.
As we morph into a country where the majority desires government to feed them, house them and medically take care of them, it is no great leap to pass the responsibility of self-protection to the state and to forego the right (and necessity) of self-protection from state.
Compromise with these types has brought us to this point. While many here believe it to be fantasy and self-defeating, the time for compromise is long over, and the time to re-assert the basic rights of the individual is at hand.
If we do not, our grandchildren are condemned to the life of Winston Smith. Not a life worth living, IMO.0 -

A sitting Democratic Congressman threatened to use nuclear weapons on American civilians in pursuit of political aims.
There's a war coming. 15 years ago I wouldn't have believed it and would have called someone saying so a crackpot....but that's where we are headed.
Look at the elections. We've taken close elections and moved them to the courthouse for judges to decide. Thus far, it appears that both sides are willing to defer to the courts decisions.....but the courts are becoming increasingly weaponized and politicized. People are already questioning the legitimacy of judges based on who appointed them.
What happens when the majority of people no longer believe in the impartiality of the courts or the ability to change anything via elections?
When the soap box and ballot box are taken away......only one box remains.0 -

+1, Has anyone here ever watched three appellate court judges look down their noses and rule for the NY Safe Act of 2013? The man speaking for gun owners against the Safe Act begged these judges to heed his words as he was speaking for the people. I have seen this and it is not a pretty sight. No exceptions. If you can gin up an exception for any reason, you cannot discriminate against felons, 26 year olds or voting twice.

Well I am a Democrat and I like guns. I know to have guns I must know how to use them and REPECT them. I have no problem registering my guns and being asked to learn how to use them. I believe owning a gun is my right, but as a right that carries responsibility. If I am NOT a responsible gun owner I lose the right to have them! Although I do have an AR-15, I do not really need one. I enjoy shooting my M1 Garand or 03 Springfield much more. I do not need a 30-Round magazine to protect myself. My 870 Rem with 00 and the slug barrel is the gun I am grabbing in an emergency!
Not all Democrats are Communists nor are all Republicans Fascists! 95% of us Democrats believe in REPONSIBLE gun ownership! However, are bump stocks on AR-15s with 30-Round clips necessary? Is it OK for a NUT to have such power to kill scores of people? Both sides need to compromise because we just cannot sit back and watch others walk in to Churches, Schools, or snipe from Hotel Rooms with guns they should not have. We better compromise, for to do nothing is not doing the trick! As much as I love guns, I think it is an utter shame we have to think about carrying a gun to Mass, or arm my grandkid's teachers! In the highlighted red. This is the fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. The conservative is for personal responsibility, and the liberal is all about blaming the wrong thing.
The gun or bump stock or hi cap magazine is not the problem. It is the social behavior that is, and that whacked behavior is "protected" by the liberals instead of dealt with. 5 rounds of OO buck gives you 45 pellets down range , that's 15 more pellets or should we say bullets,,, than a 30 round AR mag gives you going down range without a reload . I think you should only load 1 round in your 870, that way you would be under the 10 bullet limit you guys seem to want0 -

With an armed society comes the possibility that at some point, someone is going to commit crimes with a firearm. That is a given. Not unlike attempting to legislate morality, you cannot legislate an armed population into perfect compliance or peace.
I'm a responsible gun owner, I fully respect them, and I don't care what you own, or how many rounds each of your magazines or clips can hold, how short your barrel is, or whether or not you can fire more than one round per trigger pull. Should I be responsible, and share part of the blame, by association, when some nutjob shoots up a church, school, or snipes from a hotel room?
If you think I, and people like me should, you don't love the right to own firearms quite as much as you think you do. Note I said "right", not privilege. Driving a car is a privilege. Owning and bearing firearms is a right, and it's up to each and every person to decide whether or not they do good or bad with them. Again, that goes right along with living in an armed society.
Compromise creates nothing but more criminals. You tell everyone they can't do something, or can't own something in particular, and it just makes them want to go for it even more, and they will, and no law will stop them. Doing nothing is exactly what needs to happen. We need more gun rights, not more laws. The former doesn't happen with compromise.0
