Mom- best cook ever- who taught me how to kill a chicken (country folks)

Dad- strongest man, best shot, reliable as a rock

Mom & Dad- on the rare occasion they would get dressed up, Dad would take Mom out dancing. The two loved each other with an intensity that was awesome.

Sounds like our folks were cut from the same cloth, except my Mum was a better shot then most people I know.

I will never measure up to my Father, no matter what I accomplish.

mom and dad had very little and scraped by in life like a lot of folks
Dad never went to school my Mom taught him to write his name
however dad had more common sense and a understanding of things than most people will ever have, his memory was amazing .
mom never worked out of the home but with 5 kids she worked 24/7
we never went hungry got a little tight sometimes even then they would give the shirt off there back to anyone in need
I learned to be humble and proud of who you are among other things from them . same with my in-laws they were about the same just good old southern folks also
I miss all of them daily

I've always told my boys that I set the bar low so they wouldn't have to live in the shadow of a legend. I sacrificed it all for them. [:D]

The best thing in life for me is that my long term memories are so much better than what I ate for dinner yesterday![:)]

I keep both of my folks close to my heart, along with all of my siblings. I can go back in time in the blink of an eye and remember a lot of "Walton" moments.

These are the blessings of our life that are worth more than all the gold in Fort Knox!

My Old Man was a mean drunk. Beat me at least once every Day, from as far back as I can remember, till I was 13, 6'2", and 196#.
That part I can neither forgive, nor forget.

That Said, He was a Genius, and in his shadow, I learned much Science and Physics long before My peers. My language skills as well.

Living with Him toughened me up, such that Military Academy was kinda enjoyable.

Mom was a Mix of Care, and allowing the abuse.

Neither would be allowed to walk free these days.

Both have gone on to their reward.

Yes indeed...Those we love - are always with us.

    Poem by Colleen Corah Hitchcock

    "Ascension"

And if I go, while you're still here...

    Know that I live on,

vibrating to a different measure --

behind a thin veil you cannot see through.

You will not see me, so you must have faith.

I wait for the time when we can soar together again,

Until then, live your life to its fullest.

    And when you need me,

Just whisper my name in your heart, ...

    I will be there.
