I'm so smart. (Uhh.................. Nevermind.)

Have been having difficulty getting in the front door. Lock mechanism giving me problems. Lubed everything with spray on/in 3 in 1 oil. Worked fine for a bit.

Spent about 10 minutes trying to get in a few days ago. I grabbed a ladder out of the 30X40' outbuilding hoping an upstairs balcony door was unlocked. No joy. Kept fiddling with the downstairs lock, finally got in.

Well, I unlocked one of the upstairs bedroom doors that opens on to the 2nd story balcony, just in case.

Tonight trying to get in from work, denied for about 10-15 minutes. Got the ladder, got on the 2nd story front balcony, got inside via the unlocked bedroom door,

Take that Beotch. [:D]



Guess I will be buying a new door knob/Lock mechanism Monday.



I was laughing, when I broke in to the upstairs via a ladder. "Take that Beotch." [:0][B)][:p][:D]

    I think you are supposed to use graphite in locks.

    You may want to give it a try.

    I believe you are right. (But) I believe this doorknob/Lock mechanism is flat out worn out. Time for a new one. Can't be getting locked out of my own domicile. [^]

    My Place in the summer heat settles and the lock gets very hard to use. Turning is a bear. But in the Morning when Its cool it is easy.

    Buddy thought someone was breaking in. He sounded like he was ready to eat someone. He was somewhat surprised when I opened an upstairs bedroom door and came out.

    I would, but he is in a large cage, during the day. He has seperation/anxiety issues. Tried leaving him out for the 1st couple months I had him. When he started to eat my Living room furniture. He was done. Took to the crate/cage immediately. His safe place.


    I would love to leave him out. Not happening. I wish he could be out. I would never lock my doors. "Yes, please come on in." [:0][B)][:D]

    I should look in to that. I have been in my house 6 years. There are still some locks I do not have keys for. (It is a random mix of locks.) I can lock some from the inside, but can not unlock them from outside. It is tiresome, and I should address it.

    Do you have more than one key to try? Sometimes the key wears out and not the lock.

    This is the strangest thing about where I live.

    The front doors all LOCK when you close them. NO WAY to keep them from LOCKING and there IS NOT a door knob on doors.

    All doors (98%) front and back are METAL. All the windows have bars, 100%.
    The back doors all made of metal and have deadbolts, heavy metal deadbolts.
    The locks are WELDED onto the doors and the door frames are are METAL and CEMENTED into the brick house walls.

    A "yale" type key entry. Shut the door when you leave and discover you've forgot you keys,, you are SOL.
    A gust of wind blows the door closed when you are outside,, same thing.

    Brought a typical "american door hardware system" consisting of a manual locking door knob with a dead bolt.
    Also have a wooden door.

    Sounds like you let a woman move in with you, and she's locking you out. Either that or your dog's tired of you[:D][:D][:D]

    But I have had a couple like that in my life. What I use is WD-40 garage door lubricant. It's a dry lube that won't make the locking mechanism stick. And because it's a stray, it will clean out all the gunk inside the lock that you have put there by using an oil-based lube

    My son, who no longer lives at home, and my wife have been complaining about our front door lock for years.
    While I do have to jiggle my key from time to time, to me it?s a non issue.
    Sons key is the newest and still takes some effort.
    Figure since keyed alike, I?ll check how well the key works in the back door lock then, either swap them or give in and buy new knobs with 4 spares.
    It?s on my list. [:D]

    We have a problem with the door swelling and it feels like its still locked when its not......so, imagine me unlocking the door, unlocking the deadbolt, then trying it and things not working.....trying the key in things again (locking both) and realizing that I've locked things...then opening both locks again.....it happens more than I care to admit.

    We just clean our ears with our house keys. Keeps all the locks lubed and proof from freeze-up.

    You are probably lucky that a law enforcement type person, Barney Thide wanna be, did not shoot you off the ladder at night.

    I was about to change out the ignition switch lock which is on the steering column of my vehicle, got the new replacement lock assembly, pulled the steering wheel and finally got deep to where I could see where the new clone foreign made replacement lock assembly with it's own keys did not match the old one, I stopped and thought now this is going to be a mess, I stopped and done some deep digging and found my spare key that I had made few years before and it worked smooth as silk.[:D] Took about another hour restoring all to normal. The OEM key had worn just enough that it was very rough to operate the switch.[:I] Took the new made key and had another spare made and all ok.

    Sure glad the wiffee was not helping and witnessed such.[;)]
