Shingles shots
Presented our Medicare card and Secondary Insurance card and we were not told Medicare doesn't cover shots and then my secondary insurance said if Medicare doesn't cover it we won't pay either.
The wife and I got billed 250 bucks each and that's BS and yes I could have went to the VA for mine but not my wife's.

An insurance company will balance the cost vs. the potential return.
If is costs $ 1,000.00 to treat shingles, and the chances of anyone getting it are less than 1 in 5, there is no reason for an insurance company (including Medicare) to pay for the shot.
It is Health Care insurance. It is not health care.
If you want to pay for a preventative procedure that does not have a statistical positive return, it is and should be on your dime.0 -

If you ever get shingles, you'd gladly pay whatever the vaccine costs. I watched my Dad suffer for weeks with shingles and an infection associated with it. I got the shot ASAP. Cost me $225---money well spent.

Really at first the insurance company said it was covered and then said since Medicare doesn't cover my secondary plan won't and Now ad the price up 2 shots for the new shingles shot x 2 for my wife and that's 1000 bucks Not cheap.

I could have got mine at the VA but went with the wife after our secondary insurance said yes. WE have Med A and B.
Sounds like some of you are against treating it but how about people that smoke or drink should they be denied and not covered by Medicare0 -
My wife (in her 70's) came down with shingles last June. In less than 3 hours she broke out in a rash 6 inches wide from sternum to backbone. Extremely painful, concerns about infection. Treatment was an expensive anti-viral med. She now has a purple discoloration of the skin where the rash was. Taking gabapentin for nerve pain.
If you have not been vaccinated, I can tell you the disease is ugly. Can fully understand not wanting to drop a grand for the two of you, but the incidence of the disease seems to be increasing.0 -

Better half had it once and we both had chicken pox as kids so we would have paid much more than the $30 each it cost us. 0 -
The wife and I got our shingles shot about two years back. Right after getting them an ad blitz said you needed a two shot series within, what, 60 days? Unreal! Why? Anyway I just talked to one of my doctor's nurses and she said we shoul be okay. Who to believe??!! 0
