    Those are fun rifles. Got a Venezuelan in 7x57 that has almost no recoil.

    Very interesting gun. I didn't know there was a detachable magazine version. I have 2 FN 49's, one in 8mm and one in 30-06. Fun guns.

    Good looking gun.

    The FN FAL is one of my favorite Battle rifles. I have messed with in Africa several times and they are fairly accurate and very reliable.

    Both an FN 49 and an FN FAL, are on my Wish list.

    Not in the bidding biddness at the moment. Other concentrations pulling me away. Have let some things slide too long.

    That would be a good thing :)

    This Gun is really nice, and I know they are getting scarce especially in this condition/configuration but I never shoot and no sense just sitting in the safe.

    In this soft market I figure it is doing well, I probably should have waited until tax season.

    The first FN 49 I bought was from Joe Howell at Best Bet gun an Pawn before he was murdered at the store. I traded it back to him for a Bushmaster AR 15 and regretted that. Shame too because that one was a two digit serial number and was close to perfect condition.

    When this FN 49 came available from one of the C&R sales companies I jumped back on it, it is nice but not like the first one I had.

    At one time I had every bolt action and semi auto military rifle you could think of except the Johnson 1941. I almost had one of those too but when I went and got the cash to pay for it I came back and it was gone.

    Used to have a web site Mogley's Military Rifles, I was into them so to speak :)

    As I get older I figure I may as let someone else enjoy them.

    I would REALLY like to have that Mogley. Unfortunately, I am not in a buying position at the moment, or I would be bidding.

    I have an FN 49 in 8x57 mm. It is beat and scarred, but it still functions. Got it from an ad in Shotgun News back in the 70s or 80s. Didn't cost much and not worth much today.
    Used to shoot a lot of Egyptian corrosive berdan ammo (had a SINGLE flash hole in the case) which was a dime a round or less. About 1 out of 100 rounds would break the case rim right through that single flash hole, with a responding massive pressure dump which would remove your ball cap. Shot the last 500 or so rounds wearing a motorcycle helmet with face shield.
    But the rifle worked OK.
