Back from Ga I hate I85!

Went down to GA to see my Dad. I drive 40-85 Raleigh to Atlanta ever 3 to 4 weeks and I am so sick of I 85 construction I could puke.

I have been doing that drive for about 5 years now it started with me going every 1-2 months now its more often with him in a ALF for Dementia. They have had I85 between Greensboro NC and Greenville SC torn up for 5 years.

I feel sorry for the truckers who have to drive that route.



I had a good time with my Dad though, Atlanta traffic is still soul crushing but I found a good Italian Restaurant in Sandy Springs, so if you are ever down there and want some good Italian try a joint call Aldo's it is off Roswell rd and Abernathy.

I know Roswellnative has a place just down the road from me and I am going to give it a try but I am always busy when they are open. I will be there in Dec though.

    85 mph through Greenville and Spartanburg in the far left (sixth) Lane.
    Greenville to Suwannee used to be an enjoyable trip. It was hell from there on in.

    You're a mighty good man, Sam. Not many folks will do that for their Dad that frequently, especially with the awful traffic problems we have in a lot of places in this country.

    My sister is in a similar facility with the same problem down in East Texas, and I worry for her 24/7.

    I worry about Dad a lot. I have a friend who woks close to where Dad is and he goes to see him every Wed.

    A lady at his Church checks him on Thursdays and he has a twin sister who is in good shape that sees him on Sat and Monday so we keep a good eye on him.

    I usually go up on a Friday, spend all day Sat, Sun we go to church, Mon we hang out and go for a long drive or get fried chicken and sit by the river and eat it.

    The turn over in those places is crazy. One thing the staff know I keep an eye on him and Them. I am involved and they call me at least 2 times a week. If Dad gets all bent out of shape they call me and I can talk him down.


    I don't know what i would do if he asked me for a gun so he could shoot himself[V]
    The good thing is he can still communicate and he knows who I am.

    The drive really sucks though and traffic in Atlanta is just terrible. I had to buy a small car so I could make the trip back and forth, my truck is so much more comfortable but gas was killing me.

    when i was in the military trying to get from Ms to Wva i would sometimes run i-85. there wasn't even a gas station from Atl to SC then.

    It will probably get worse on 85, I-75 resurfacing/widening/repairs are never finished.....when the state DOT gets to the Florida line they turn around and start back over again at the Tennessee line to do the job again. It's been like that since I-75 was built. The cause, too many Yankees pass thru going to Florida then decide on their way home to move here bringing their political beliefs with them [}:)] [:D]

    The southeast anymore is just like the northeast except with funny accents. Some places down south the traffic is just like NJ and I think the southern drivers are a little more rude.

    GAs biggest issue woth trucks is the lane restriction forcing us to drive in the two right lanes with all the merging traffic. Then you got those governed trucks that can?t run the speed limits driving in the trucks passing lane because they refuse to deal with the merging traffic who doesn?t know what YIELD means. Then some of us piss off car drivers because we get fed up with that retarded lane restriction and move left so we can blow rhe doors off those damn slow ass governed trucks.

    I don't think I have EVER been through there or Nashville, Memphis that "construction" wasn't gong on. And it's been going on for decades.[|)][8]

    They have been working on I-85 in SC for the last 50 years,and it gets worse every year.
