War Movies

I know, there's been plenty of topics on them. But, I'm bored, and thought I'd share my recent movie watches:

Apocalypse Now
Platoon
Windtalkers
Tropic Thunder


Yes, that's right. I made it until the past two weeks without having watched any of those movies. And yes, I know Tropic Thunder is a garbage satire movie, but I still hadnt seen it so I listed it.

Side note, I want to re-read The Unit sometime too. Great book when I read it all those years ago.

Any movies/books that are wildly popular that it took you forever to see? Or still havent seen?

    Too many crappy war movies and they left out some of the best IMO.

    Not on the list:

    1. Sorry it made the list EDIT

    2. A Cross Of Iron(IMO the best war movie of all time)

    3. A Bridge too far

    4. Red Badge of Courage

    5. To hell and Back

    They left out a bunch of great Navy War Movies.



    12 O'Clock should be in the top 15.

    Dunkirk should not even be on the list IMO.

    While Dr Zhivago is set in a war I don't consider it a real war movie same with Casablanca.

    I don?t exactly agree with what?s on the list or the order.

    A bunch of good movies are missing, but the list is limited to their idea of the top 50.

    Where is Das Boot???????? Great war movie.

    The Blue Max and the Guns of Naverone aren't on the list.

    Nether is Lawrence of Arabia and Cross of Iron.

    That list is lame.

    drums in the deep south but of course it is about something that took place over 100 years ago I loved the way they increased the range of the artillery

    I would add that the list is posted by a certain demographic group that does not know much about history.

    I also like the Motion Pictures that have dozens of real Actors and real Veterans playing bit parts throughout the whole Picture.

    Even though I never did Serve our Country, I could not even be a good judge of the reality of such movies.

    I enjoyed Mel Gibson and Sam Elliot in "We Were Soldiers"

    Maggy Stowe is always nice to look at as well![:p]
