NICS password issues
Is anyone besides me having NICS password issues? I changed my password and it didn't 'take.' Called, went through all of their phone BS. "Oh, it doesn't work with Microsoft Edge or Chrome. It will say it worked, but it didn't." Are you kidding me? Two of the biggest browsers in the nation? So this time I used Firefox. like the rep suggested. STILL got the same result: expired password. The dumbasses said they're "working on it." I told them how to easily fix it: STOP SOMEONE'S PAYCHECK UNTIL IT GETS FIXED. Maybe if they feel the pain like I, someone who is TRYING TO RUN A BUSINESS does, they'll get the damned thing fixed.

Just wait until every transaction has to go through the system LOL Maybe the NICS people are part of the shutdown or at least their IS department

I had the same problem. I use Chrome in the shop and my password change seemed to take, but several days later my account was locked because it expired. The representative I talked to said that their program sees Chrome as an attack and to use Explorer instead.
I used the house computer with Windows Explorer and changed my password successfully and have had no problems since.
My biggest issue is coming up with a new password every 90 days..[:)]0 -
I had an issue when I changed my password where it gave the password has been changed notice, but would not let me log on. Called and got some BS about it not working with Edge and was told I NEED to use Chrome. When that didn't work, I was finally directed to someone who knew what they were doing and she asked how many characters were in my new password. She discovered that I had one character too many but, of course, there was no message telling me my password was too long when I changed it, just that it was changed. She asked if I was willing to have her change my password and I gave her permission. Within two minutes, I had a new, easy to remember, password and was up and running.
So, after spending the better part of an afternoon getting my problem fixed on that change, the last time I did a password change, I called and REQUESTED that my password be changed by them and it was done in less time than I could do it myself.0 -
I thought that if a dealer called into the NICS number that if they didn't bet a response back after a specified time that the sale could go through? Otherwise the government could prevent people from buying guns by keeping the system down. 0 -
Oh yeah, that's the kind of thing that I would expect a "computer specialist" to fix, after receiving specifications from a "systems analyst". I guess ATF considers them "non-essential" personnel.
You might want to send your complaint to the Draft Dodger; he may be upset enough to give in to the Wicked Witch on the wall issue.

I used to have that same problem of thinking up a new password until I started using something like Pistol10 and in 90 days making it Pistol11. (not my password)0 -

If you get a "delayed" response, they have three of THEIR business days to give you a response. They will give you a date that you can transfer the firearm if they have not responded.0 -
I pick up a shotgun from my receiving FFL last week. He was having the same password issue and had to call it in. 0 -
Did you remember to hit "refresh " "reopen" in the middle of the process? It's in the instructions. If you don't you will have the issues you are experiencing. 0 -
Here are the instructions which you were probably given, pay attention to #6, most people miss it:
1. Select the User Accounts, Maintain Process
2. Enter your Last Name in the Value field to the right of the Last Name field
3. Click Search
4. This will return all users associated with your FFL that have your Last Name. Double click anywhere on the line that has your information
5. Click on the Change Password tab
6. Click Reopen at the top/right of the page
7. Enter your Old Password
8. Enter a New Password
9. Confirm the New Password0 -

Here in SC if you get a delay its 5 business days and you pickup the firearm the day after the Brady date0 -

One of our employees had the same issue after a month or so of calling in a gal said I can fix it for you took her less than 5 minutes0 -

I think we are talking about two different things. The original poster and I were in reference to him changing his password, nothing to do with refreshing the check when its researching, if that's what you are talking about.0 -
