I have a Ruger 22/45 with a paclite barrel, a S&W 22A, Browning Buck Mark 22 and i just bought a High Standard H-D Military 22lr and i like this gun by far.
It has the best trigger out of all of them. The next one i would have would be the Ruger with the pac lite barrel it is so light. The mag is almost as heavy as the gun.0 -
I am a SW 41 fan but Ruger Std all MKs especially the bull barrel target models shoot just as good. They are still bargains and there are many for sale here on GB.
The Ruger MK 10 is a marvel. It will outshoot most of my 22 rifles.0 -
In my opinion the Browning is a very nice plinker but a good Hi Standard target pistol is a work of art and capable of winning most any .22 competition. 0 -
I had a Ruger Mark I bull barrel years ago that I liked a lot. I traded it to a Commander for a 1903 Springfield. I didn?t trade to get rid of the Ruger; it was the only way I could get his ?03.
I think Ruger is up to Mark IV now, but it?s probably close to the same gun.0 -

My first 22 auto pistol I bought was a 22 Ruger Standard model with a 6 inch barrel. That was in 1981 and I bought 16 more over the years along with tons of spare parts. I still have the first one and 6 more. Many of the parts Ruger no longer sells to the general public. I bought lots of new take off barrels from Volquartsen when he upgraded customers pistols. A friend years ago let me shoot his Ruger Mark 1 target pistol and I was hooked. When I was getting ready to take apart my first one I bought a second one to just use as a guide for putting the first one back together. A lot of people complain about how hard they are to take apart and put back together. I read the owners manual, most people don't. Ruger made a affordable 22 people could afford.

i had a high standard 2nd model Olympic 22 short target model #416713 stolen out of home many years ago...still have 2 HS HD military, one a safe queen.... 0 -

Get the buckmark, spend 30 minutes polishing the little hole that the hammer spring goes into and reverse the sear spring. You'll have the smoothest 2.5lb trigger you can imagine. 0 -
Get you a High Standard and forget the rest. 0 -
I've owned a Buckmark Signiture, many Rugers, S&W41 ... a version of all the mentioned and a few more, except the Baikal my Hi Standard Supermatic 101 beats them all ... but it is a bit ugly 
What I like best, shoot the most ... and maybe best is 6 7/8(?) RugerIII Hunter w/Vortquzen trigger kit (top)0 -

My Favorite, when I get it out has to be my Hi Standard H-D Military with 6 inch bull barrel, and Brauer Bro's leather holster.
Then the Wife's Ruger MK2 Target with 5.5 Bull Barrel is pretty nice.
But considering all of the Great .22 Autos being produced or have been produced, the two that I mentioned are just average to very good.
But they are fun shooters and can reach out to 100 yards.0 -
I am a Browning Buckmark guy. My first handgun purchase was a Browning Buckmark Micro, Slab sided Bull Barrel. My favorite handgun to shoot. I took my CCW class with it. Shot the center out of the Bullseye. Out of 50 shots fired, only 9 were not in or touching the Bull. (And) That was only because we had to shoot 10 rapid fire.
I also own a Target model Browning Buckmark, heavy barrel, solid rib (to add weight?) with a factory full length Weaver rail. Tru-Glo multiple reticle red/green dot sight installed. It might have been my first Ricci Wright purchase. (Not sure.)
Both handguns are spot on accurate.

There is a 22 auto out there that is IMO under loved; The S&W 422/622.
They are light, use 42 mags and are not picky with ammo and shoot very accurately. I have one and I like it. They can also be a very good deal. I like the Target model with wood grips and adjustable sights.
That said I will take my H-D Military 6" over just about anything.

Seriously, I had an older S&W Model 41 but didn't see a huge advantage over my early 00's Buckmark Standard. They will both hit a 16" pine cone at 400'.

I liked the old style Ruger semi-autos, although I never was much of a pistol shot of any account...other than being somewhat proficient with the old military .45's. 0 -
hard to beat a good old ruger mk2 but i had a high standard sport king and I kick myself for ever selling it [:(!]

I have shot bull's eye pistol since 1964 hard to beat the early High Standards but avoid the later ones made in TexasI also like the conversion units that fit on a 1911 frame I have 8 different conversion units 0 -
