Tire Rack

My baby needs a new set of Michelins and these guys are much cheaper than local. Plus the guy I have bought tires from for 30 years has closed his store. Has anyone purchased ties from Tire Rack and if so what do you think of them. Thank you!!

    Have bought from them with no problems. I think their website is the best for online tire sellers. Lots of info.

    However, I've found the best prices on DiscountTire.com. There every day prices are good but they offer huge rebates around every holiday - fortunately one is coming up.

    I've used them several times and been very happy with prices & service - but again I always waited to buy for the holiday rebates.

    I would 1st locate a place that would put those tires on and add what they will charge to do it to the price Tire rack tells you.


    Also where will you go if you have warranty work done. Also rotating tires you going to do it or will yo have to find a place to do it. Add that to the price of the tires.

    I agree Grump. I always prefer dealing with local folks. This set of tires delivered to my door is $403.00 and the price at my local store is $551.00 for the same set mounted balanced and installed.$150.00 is a big difference but by the time I paid to have them installed the differance would probably be closer to $50.00 and for that I would rather buy locally.

    I've bought from them before too, with no problems.
    Like grumpy said, factor the mount & balance cost too.
    The last two sets I bought, though, were from Sam's Club. Caught them on sale & rewards.

    We use Walley world for our tires since we travel and if you have tire trouble there is always a Walley World close.
    Hard to get a new tire on the road if you buy local but you can run your donut tire to the closet WW.
    Great for Kids going to school and they sale Name Brand tires at a good Price

    As stated the prices may be good but you need to factor in mount and balancing by a local shop. You may find the price difference is worth leaving your money with a local business.

    Just bought (4)Pirelli-P4-Four-Seasons-Plus tires at tires-easy 0n flea bay and it's a 90,000 rated tire and Mexicans installed then for 40.00 bucks with balancing.Most main line shops go 60 to 100 dollars for same job on install.

    I picked up a set of Cooper AT3s on ebay a couple weeks ago. Ended up costing around $400 total, including mount and balance at a shop here in town. Gotta love it when shipping is free on a 128lb order.[^]

    If you can hold off until closer to Labor Day, Discount Tire Direct always does good deals. You can add their rebates, with a tire brand rebate, and possibly another if you get a DTD card.

    I just bough a nice set of A/T tires for my Jeep for $493 mounted & balanced. $608 was the cart price....$100 DTD rebate, $70 Continental Tire rebate, and a $40 DTD card rebate....$95 to mount & balance.

    I am not in the tire business,but from what I understand is that tire dealers only make about 10 bucks each on tire sales.They make their money on installation.

    Discount Tire been good for us. I mount and balance at a friends shop. 2nd set of Hankooks on the 350 now and very satisfied.
    Escapes due soon and will Discount again

    The standard mark up I see from my dealers is $70-$100 a set of four but that includes mounting, balance, new valve stems, taxes and disposal of the old tires.

    I have bought from them. They seem to be a reputable dealer. The only caveat is that if you get a tire that is out of round, you have to send it back and wait for a new one to come, plus whoever installs them for you will not Dismount and remount a new one without charging you for it again. And the fact that you probably will have to run on your spare tire until the new one comes. With all the tires I bought in my life, I have only had one that was out of round. But at least you know what to expect.
