My handwriting is SO BAD, especially on CHECKS!
I don't know what it is about writing on a check.....but its like I'm having some kind of spasm or internal struggle to just start drawing critters on whatever check I'm trying to write out.
My signature has turned into a large infinity sign followed by some kind of doodly scroll thing.
I can't even PRINT legible letters on a check. Its seriously nuts.
If you saw these things you'd swear a 12 year old stole my checkbook and was trying to write like "her mom" to pass fake checks (and she was crying in a moving car, while drinking Boones Farm with her cousin who was yelling at her to write faster.)

Checks force You to write in such a small area.
That makes for problems.
Then, you have to try to find SOMEWHERE to set the checkbook on! Your Knee or the top of Your Convertible roof?
Finally, a really nice pen helps. I am partial to Fisher Space Pens.
Still, after Enginering School, I speed print much more clearly than my great big fists can Write in Script.0 -

Buy a fountain pen. It MAKES you write better than a ballpoint pen. 0 -
I gave up on writing legible checks and made a template to print them on my printer. Then all I have to do is sign them. The signature doesn?t matter. Whenever anybody says anything about my signature I tell them it?s as good as an X. 0 -
Over the years and having to "write" by hand so very little it devolved to of a child with Parkinson's.
Just checked my driver's license and that signature is so very different.0 -
Kind of makes me wonder if it has something to do with an inner subconscious thing about "Your money" is going to be "Their money" after your check is signed![:0]
Another theory has to do with everyone's experience with Doctors.
It takes at least 7 years of schooling to learn how to write that way!
It takes a pharmacist nearly that much time in school to learn how to decipher the Doctors writing![:D]0 -

LF dear lady, I hear you. I can write a beautifully clear signature on checks, but seem to go spastic when I try to sign books. There's something about trying so hard to do it well that it causes a short circuit. I've even misspelled my own name it's so bad.
One of the memorable things about Arnold Palmer was his beautifully legible signature. He once said that it doesn't matter how you sign a check, but when you do an autograph, you owe it to the recipient to make it clear.0 -

Basically all accountants print everything. I always had good handwriting but was taught to print on notes, working papers, etc. so that it is clearly legible to other people.
Because of that, after 33 years, I have basically lost the ability to write in cursive. Sadly, the only thing I can really write is my signature. Anything else, I struggle with it.0 -
Good cursive handwriting is slowly becoming a thing of the past anyway.
Being an old duffer it makes me sad. In a generation or two, anyone with good cursive penmanship skills will be considered an artist.
Then again, anyone who will be able to read this good cursive stuff will be sought after like a hieroglyphics professor![:0]0 -

Like most of us, you have lost a lot of writing skill because you use a computer keyboard most of the time. It's the fine muscle control that goes so quickly.
Try a roller ball pen, I do better with that than ball point.

I just let my bank write all my checks out for me. It's easy, just go to the bill pay section of your online checking. You can write it to individual people too
As an added benefit, having my bank write and send out the checks saves me Postage cost0
