Since it's just my wife and I, she just cooks a 3 lb. turkey breast. Plenty for the two of us.

smoking four between 12-13 lbs. i have found this is the optimum size for my method of smoking and being all the same size means they finish at the same time.

Frying a big bird like that may get you both under and over cooked turkey.

I deep fry my Thanksgiving Bird. Always between 12-15 Lbs. 14Lbs is perfect!
I cook at about 360 Degrees for 3 minutes a pound and let rest under loose Aluminum Foil for 20 minutes or so.
Wings and Legs are normally still very edible and the rest is PERFECT!
    Enjoy!
    Going Deer Hunting tomorrow.

    Between 14 1nd 16 pound bird...injected with Cajun Butter.

I fried turkeys in peanut oil for years but quit when the cost of the oil exceeded the cost of the bird.

Three years ago I bought a Char-Broil BIG EASY which is propane fired. Fries a turkey that tastes exactly like it was fried in oil...without the cost or the hassle of messing with the oil...much safer also.

Cooks 10 minutes per pound of bird. It also cooks just about everything else...pork roasts, ribs, game hens...etc.

    Check the BIG EASY out

Having all sons and no daughters, Thanksgiving has been just the wife and I since the boys have been married.

I may be the only one here who buys a "store" brand turkey. Only cost me 37 cents a pound this year! A 15 pounder for less than a 6 dollar bill![:p]

With all of the butter & herb rubbing I give em, these store branded birds always turn out moist, tender, and delicious![:p]

My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal has always been the stuffing anyway! I make a kick butt savory sage stuffing with pork sausage, onions, mushroom soup, and dry stale homemade bread cubes. Topped with hot steaming turkey gravy, I could make a complete meal out of this alone![:p]

I always enjoy my wife's traditional homemade pumpkin pie topped with vanilla ice cream!

I prefer my ham but my son does like turkey.
With my wife, son, and in-laws, it's only five of us.
    I found an 11 pounder.
Hoping for as little of leftovers as possible.
    If ham, I'd buy a 20 pounder plus. [:D]

Please share your smoking method. Time/temp. Wood type etc. If you would. I would appreciate it very much.

New to the smoking thing. (Just got one.)

No Thanksgiving in South America but that won't stop me from taking a long, long weekend and a few days of vacation. After that's it some church holidays, christmas and new years, looks like I'm off until 2019.[:D]
