What ones do you like best for c c shooting accuracy etc. Good Bad?

Any of the single stack 39 compact series. I prefer the non TSW guns without the rail. All I have owned or shot have been great guns. The older Sig 225 is also a nice single stack gun similar to the S&W but without a manual safety. By the way I remember wanting a 59 back in the 1970?s. When I finally got my hands on one I was disappointed as it was and still is a real brick in my opinion. I have owned at least one 6904 which I remember liking. 0 -

I bought a 59 new around 1975, I carried it regularly for 10 years and shot it extensively over that time period.
It was a 100% reliable pistol for me, it does have a large grip, so a lot of folks did not find it easy or comfortable to shoot, I never had a problem like that.
I found it to be a very good shooter back then and it did very well accuracy wise with the limited choices of factory ammo back then, and a really good one with some worked up full power loads I developed handloading for it.
I just recently brought it out of storage having not fired it in 15 years, cleaned and lubed, loaded it with sig ammo and it was just as good as I remember , as good as my sig p228, glock 19, and others.
While the sights , and trigger may not as" good" as the newer high cap autos I have, it is no slouch in all other areas and I would have no problem having to rely on it for any needed or wanted use.0 -
Carried a 59 briefly at work many years ago. Actually preferred the revolver. I have 2 consecutively numbered 59's and 2 39's in my collection. Almost never shoot them, but they are pretty.[;)] 0 -
I like the model 52 best.
Never care for any 39 series for CC. Side holster yes.0 -
For conceal carry I like the 3rd Gen guns better. I carry a 6906 a lot. I have 2 model 39's they're nice shooter and very accurate I probably shoot the 39's a little better then the the 3rd generation guns but feel the 3rd gen guns are better suited to everyday carry 0 -
The 59 is for poor marksmen, 39 for those skilled in marksmanship. 0 -

In my opinion they went away due to cost to produce and weight. Before Glock showed up most law enforcement,at least the ones I knew, had S&W autos in their holsters along with a few revolvers but Glock changed that. The big .45 and 10mm guns were excellent shooters as were the 9mm guns but they were heavy. quote:Originally posted by Krony

I have a 39, I had a 59 which I sold (didn't like it). 0 -
The 39-2 has long been a favorite. Currently have two. The 39 just fits me hand. In the 40 years I've been shooting 39s I have never had a malfunction.
About 10 years ago I picked up a 659. I hate the look of stainless but it is practical. The hi-cap models feel a little clumsy in my hand but I wanted 15 shots without reloading. This gun is a tool that stays behind the seat of my truck.
I gave my father in law a 459 about a dozen years ago for his birthday. He loves that gun and tells me so every time I see him.0 -
Carried a 59 on duty for several years...Used to shoot allot and it finally..."gave it up"...Sent it to Devel and had it re-built...WOW! They did great work! Wore it out again and wound up trading it for a Colt series 70 in 38 Super...Later converted to 45acp...Carried that on duty also...The 59 issues convinced me to avoid alloy firearms all together...If you shoot allot... 0
