first snow of year.............
and its not much moe than a heavy frost. But the big flakes just started, they are at least the size of quarters. I let the dog, Dudley out and he doesn't know what to do, licked the snow off the porch then would spin around as the big flakes hit him on the back/butt, he finally took off running trying to catch them in the air. after a good 10 minutes of this he was done, wet, muddy and wore out. got him cleaned up and he jumped right up in the recliner between my legs and passed out. guess thats not to bad an idea it is almost nap time.......

I've got about 4 inches of the white stuff on the deck railing but only a couple of inches on the lawn. Guess the ground was warm enough to melt some of it. We need the moisture, but I would prefer it in the form of rain. Our pond is down about a foot and that works out to about 750,000 gallons. I don't think we have ever gone into winter with it this low. Not sure how well the bass and bluegills will make it through the winter. No ice yet, but when it forms that will cut down on the oxygen and might produce a winter die off of the fish. That extra 750,000 gallons would have provided a cushion. Not much I can do about it, so I have my fingers crossed for an extra mild winter. Bob

My weather station went kaput last week, but the National Weather Service said it was -13 last night, and is currently up to 0 degrees. Have about 5 inches of snow on the ground for the last week or so. Hasn't been above freezing for 10 days or so, clear and cold. Brrrr......

he's right at 8-9 months, grandkids wanted a dog, but grampa is stuck with him 12-14 hours day. He does keep me company, goes everywhere in the truck with me and is spoiled worse than the grandkids. Don't have a cell phone so no pics, wouldn't know how to post em if did, he is carne? terrier just small, 12-15 lb mutt.....

My Kubota equipped with a 55" snow blower got its first workout of the season this morning. We had about 6" of snow overnight and already had about 4" on the ground from a few days ago. I had to run into town yesterday and felt confident that I'd make it back up my very steep driveway returning home. Even with 4 wheel drive it took me 3 attempts to get to the top!!!!! Having to back down on a failed attempt is a bit scary! The driveway has a sharp curve and slick slushy asphalt with temps around 20 degrees makes for a harrowing experience.

Everyone be safe out there. Frozen stuff can put you in places you never intended to go.
We got about three inches on opening day. It stuck around until Monday when all that was left was in the shadows. Prognosticators had called for 1/2 inch and wasn't supposed to stick.

but that is perfect for hunting, a white snow makes the deer stand out from everything else. ours starts monday and I hope we get at least 1/2 inch or so, my old eyes need all the help they can get, though these old bones don't like the slipping and sliding involved to get to my hunting blind........
