Colorado hunting death

Why in his name would Colorado allow a archery and muzzle loader hunt to coincide when archers can be fully camo’ed but Muzzleloader hunters have wear orange?
I fully understand positive target identification prior to firing, but a mixed weapon hunt seems like a recipe for disaster such as the article.

In Indiana archery season overlaps with all firearms and muzzle loading seasons. If a firearm or muzzle loading season is in archery hunters are required to wear orange.

One year during shotgun season I heard a buck coming toward me in a thicket. An occasional low grunt escaping, sounded like he was trailing a doe or maybe with a doe. Brown movement in the thicket, a glimpse of an antler. The wind was in my favor, my shot gun was up as this was going to be close. A hunter stepped through with a grunt call to his lips and a set of antlers hanging from his neck, no orange in sight. Of course I didn't shoot I didn't even come close to shooting. But I thought what a foolish thing to be doing in that spot.
I know all hunters should identify their target and people doing things like this should be safe. But there is also some level of practicality that needs to be considered.
In the article is sounds like both parties were calling to each other with elk calls. I've seen hunters rattle in another hunter that thought they were stalking a couple of sparring bucks. No one shot of course.

The only reg. I can find about archery is you have to wear fluorescent orange/pink during the ‘’rifle” seasons and the early ML and archery season is not during regular “rifle” season. Albeit you always have to wear orange/pink while hunting with a ML.
Doesn’t make sense to me.

It happens every year in various states even when hunters are wearing orange. It continues to amaze me how many people will shoot at sound. Scares the bejeebers out of me to the point where I will never hunt out of a blind on public land. Here on the farm where access is controlled to just family I would be fine with it. Although, I would still fly fluorescent orange streamers from the corners to alert family where I was set up. Safer to hunt out of a stand for the most part. Last time I checked, deer can't climb trees.

I am happy I do not have to hunt on public land......but then again I have to chase off a few trespassers most years....

Like everything else in Colorado these days, hunting laws and regulations are made by liberal idiots, passing rules on things they know nothing about.

Oklahoma requires Archers to Wear a head covering or vest during a firearms season and often overlooked by Archers is they are required to wear cap or vest during gun youth hunts which occur before the regular firearms season.
Game Wardens (possum cops) really take advantage of them Archers that do not read the rules book closely or abide by the rule book.
I'm little surprised at the numbers of hunters, old and young that do not even bother reading the hunting and fishing regulations. When I mention a regulation to them they say What?
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Now that is the best rule.

There is absolutely no excuse for mistaking a human being for a game animal. Zero, zip, zilch, nada. EVER!
I don't give two chits and a howdy what color clothing they're 'supposed' to be wearing.
