I’ve cut their head off and they still do that ,,,,,,,,, hung a headless one on a fence for butchering and when a youngster touched him midway on the body the remaining neck portion ‘struck’ him on the back of his hand. Fastest I’ve ever seen someone run !! 🤣

Had a 3' black rat snake join me in my ground blind yesterday. I was busy watching a doe and yearling eating all my bait when I became aware of movement on the floor. The snake's head was about 2" from my right foot. When I realized what kind it was, I just nudged it back the way it came in, without spooking the deer. Had it been a rattler or cottonmouth, I wouldn't be worrying about scaring the two bait thieves!!!
I'm not scared of snakes as a rule, but those close quarters would have been concerning! 😬

I've cut the head off, skinned them out, and an hour later they'll do that!
