Interesting. Would like to try them with plain ol' .22 crosman pellets. Especially in my Ruger American in which loading would be easy.

Technically it's a "Power Activated Tool".
Made to place a hardened steel pin into steel or concrete. More power than an air powered nail gun.

Tried that once upon a time. Those blanks are way to powerful for the skirt on the pellets, just strips them over the rifling.

You could load what ever you wanted in front of the blank as long as it didn't weigh more than your rifle could handle the pressure. Small shot loads in a paper wrap made with what ever you could find. That would be even easier with a rifle like my Remington 510 smooth bore. Those blanks could have other applications as well. Maybe the preppers should start laying in a supply.

You COULD just stuff the projectile down the muzzle of the Ramshot. The way the blank cartridges come loaded, it would be like a belt fed,,,,,,,,,,,,muzzle loader?? Seriously though, I've used that tool thousands of times and it never even occurred to me that those cartridges would chamber in a .22. Live n learn!

Other calibers will load as well. Most people have a .22, most gun owners anyway. Most common tool blanks are .22, but I've seen .25, .32 and .38. I'm trying to remember but they may all be rimmed for the ram-set. I'm thinking the .38's will load though.

I did a search and all I can find are .22, .25, and .27 loads for sale. I know there used to be larger ones I would think there still are.

In a SHTF scenario if it's all that was available. I have plenty of real .22 ammo though.

Yeah I agree that some may benefit from this knowledge in a shtf scenario but like you I have enough 22lr, maybe even a couple of lifetimes worth, so I don't need to try it. Bob

Lots of videos of this setup on YouTube. The cartridges come in different power levels. Experimenters were getting nearly 3000 fps out of the strongest ones but were running into problems.
The .17 Winchester Super Magnum is the hottest rimfire ever sold and it is the .27 nail gun case necked down.

Yep. My pump action pellet rifle is rated at 1,000fps and I believe it. Deadly accurate.

Better to just buy a PSP air gun, a hand pump, and a supply of lead 'bullets'. In a field expedient scenario there are many projectiles that would be more effective than an air gun pellet. As was mentioned, the pellet would leave the barrel as an unbalanced splatter.

Got a cheap pellet rifle at home and I just diesel it with oil,no need to use blanks or the like to get higher Velocities.

Caution, doing this will eat up the seals in your airgun. The seals weren't designed to resist the heat or blowback caused by combustion. Bob
