The gun Baldwin used was one of three that a firearms specialist, or “armorer,” had set on a cart outside the building where a scene was being rehearsed, according to court records. Assistant director Dave Halls grabbed a gun off a cart and handed it to Baldwin, indicating that the weapon was safe by yelling “cold gun," court papers say. Instead, it was loaded with live rounds, according to the records.
Crew member Maggie Goll said in a statement that she filed an internal complaint with the executive producers of Hulu’s “Into the Dark” series in 2019 over concerns about assistant director Dave Halls' behavior on set. Goll said in an email Sunday that Halls disregarded safety protocols for weapons and pyrotechnics and tried to continue filming after a crew member had "slipped into a diabetic fugue state.”
Goll, a prop maker and licensed pyrotechnician, said in her email that Halls' behavior on set has concerned her in the past.
She said that, during work on “Into the Dark,” Halls didn't hold safety meetings and consistently failed to announce the presence of a firearm on set to the crew, as is protocol. The assistant prop master admonished Halls several times for dismissing the actors and actresses before they had returned weapons to the props table, she said.

Sorry, but the responsibility lies totally with Baldwin who did not check the condition of the gun he was handed. Would have taken him maybe 2 seconds, but he did not do it. So now, due to his negligence, one person is dead and another wounded.

WELL, just heard on the "news" Baldy was attacking a police officer in an accidental shooting and saying "I wonder what you would feel shooting an innocent person?" Well how does it feel Alec?

Baldwin pointed a gun at someone. It's his fault. No one hands me a gun telling me it's unloaded without me checking it, and I never point one at someone even if I've confirmed it's unloaded.
Ricochets happen of course but by and large, you can't shoot someone if you never point a gun at someone. Simple really.

On the other hand, a SAA loaded with blanks would look no different than loaded with live ammo, if all you did was open the loading gate and rotate the cylinder. You'd still see cartridge bases with primers. You'd have to look into the front of the cylinder (and almost down the barrel) to see bullets.

If I was an armorer on a movie set, the last thing I would want is some actor fooling around with a gun I was responsible for. I would have been hired as an expert, and most actors, heck most people, don't know how to safely check a weapon. Of course I would never allow live ammo on any set and I would have complete control over all weapons and blanks. They would leave my hand, go to the actor and then be returned to me. Checked, and rechecked, by me. If that was a problem for the director, then get someone else. I have had problems before with directors concerning safety on movie sets, not firearms, construction. I will not be responsible for someone getting hurt to save a little time or money.

Also allowing the gun to be taken off set to be used for casual target practice by crew is ridiculous. No live ammunition should be anywhere near a movie set. Those guns should have never been out of control of the armorer. Both her and that AD should never work in Hollywood again.

Live ammo, blank ammo, either way they were NOT recording at the time and were reportedly moving the cameras to get rid of a glare from the sun. He picked up(or was handed) the gun and took it upon himself to rehearse and PULL the trigger. He said the gun "just went off"! No, he pulled the trigger. I understand having to point at people to film a movie, even shooting blanks BUT I would be 100% sure before I pulled the trigger. Sorry for the woman's family, should have never happened! Even blank ammo has a kill radius, gotta be careful!

In addition to fiddling with the revolver.......he also had to of COCKED THE HAMMER.....before pulling the trigger!!

Seems to me it is their jobs to know their equipment. Do they just jump into a high dollar, high output vehicle and hammer down? If they ran someone over would it be the car suppliers fault? Or handle fire, needles, or other dangerous items? Kurt Russell said they took the six shooters home and wore them and got used to them and handling them for six months before making Tombstone.
