Are the coming shortages real??
Or just a ploy to get us to buy a bunch of stuff?? I have no idea but I am stocking up anyway. I mean if there is plenty of stuff available I just won't have to shop for a while. I did notice that walmart is out of gallon jugs of water. Today I ordered copier paper, an extra copier ink cartridge, and another roll of Gorilla tape.

I think things will be in very short supply. I also think these are artifical shortages caused intentionally for political purposes. Shutting down the world for a year obviously created shortages that ran a lot of supply lines empty.
So in my mind it's going to take a long time for everything to be running smoothly again.
Or maybe this is our "new normal."

We did that when I was a kid, that's hw money poor we were. And yea, it is imo going to get worse, maybe a lot worse.
My wife and I still do, I see nothing wrong by being frugal. Our kids were taught the same and are doing likewise.....and proud of them for following our example....😊

I'm having some problems getting parts at my shop, even engine oil! Every time I go to the grocery store there is bare spots on the shelves. Never seen it like this before.
I think it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

I have also always saved bacon grease, home made flour tortillas made with it are much better than using lard or oil. And yes seeing a lot of shortages at the stores, always buying a little extra of the things that I will always use and don't spoil, even if something is always available the prices keep going up so buying more now for less than will have to pay later...

I was at Walmart just now, bacon was $7-9 a pound. No thanks. I’ll soak deer meat in my bacon grease and pretend it’s bacon.

Some stock was slim at the Dollar Store when I stopped this morning. To add to the issue I bought some things to stock up, dish soap, laundry detergent, freezer bags and a few other things. What is more relative is the increase in prices over the last few months. I spent 130 dollars. This time last year the total would have been closer to 90 dollars maybe 100.

The way I see it many people worry too much about the supply of toilet paper, without any food to digest there's not much need for toilet paper. Growing your own food is a smart thing to do but one must realize it takes at least 3 months growing period for most plants to produce anything edible and patio / balcony gardens won't cut it.

True enough patio and balcony gardens won't fill you up. But they do add flavor and diversity to staples as well as supplemental nutrition. A spice and salad garden does help.
Raising enough corn, beans and potatoes sure enough takes some room. Fall root vegetables like beets and turnips are important if times get real hard.

I cannot find the blue nail on electrical gang boxes or the round blue ceiling light boxes anywhere local. 12/2 romex has jumped from $80 to $150-$180 per 250 ft roll.

Remember to stock up on sweet potatoes (very easy to store also), just eating 1 sweet potato per day with nothing else will keep a human from starving indefinitely. This has been a well known fact world-wide for centuries..........no, I don't grow them but I did under contract in the 1980's. If doubtful ask with your M.D.

These problems are real and caused by absolute stupidity of egregious governments and their Covid mandates.
Did they every think of the consequences of telling people they cant work unless they take the jab? NO!
Stuff like these mandates should make people wonder about their government.

The media says the shipyard problems in California are due to a lack of truck drivers. That's only a half lie. California law says trucks have to be newer than 2011 to enter the state, and CANNOT be driven by owner-operators. Thus, California laws have created the problem.

The media says the shipyard problems in California are due to a lack of truck drivers. That's only a half lie. California law says trucks have to be newer than 2011 to enter the state, and CANNOT be driven by owner-operators. Thus, California laws have created the problem.

I don't know about the ships but, in my travels, I see ALOT of stack trains going in and out of portland, tacoma and seattle. Also, huge amounts of grain and lumber moving by rail up and down the I5 corridor and the Columbia gorge.

I should mention, the guy at the local grocery meat department stopped me from buying 15 lbs of bacon last week. He told me it would be on sale for 1.99 lb the following day. It was! Saved me a bucket o' money. He also stated that his store had already "sourced" all of their holiday hams and turkeys. He indicated those would be priced low as "loss leaders"
