From transcripts of the 911 call, it sounds like perhaps the assistant director handed baldwin the gun. Maybe more than 1 person didn't do their job. The firearms "expert" on the set won't likely get much future work. Much as I dislike baldwin, I guess we'll have to wait and see if he has any culpability. Sad situation all around. Like any other violent death, it could have been easily avoided.

If someone handed me a gun and told me to point it at someone and pull the trigger, I’d open it myowndamnself and check it, twice, to make SURE it wasn’t loaded with real ammo.
EVEN IF the Armorer swore up and down it was “cold” and I had zero firearms safety training. I’d figure out how to open it and check with my own eyes.

Im waiting for more FACTS to come out(if they do!). If the gun had a real bullet, then MAYBE not baldwin's fault( I say maybe because I look at ever round before I shoot). BUT if they were in fact blanks, then he is at fault. Blank ammo still has a kill distance. Shoot someone too close with a blank and they will die. So, I need more facts. How close was he to the victim, was there an actual projectile(which I highly doubt) AND if there was a projectile, was it intentional?!

Looks like it was the fault of the armorer and Billy Boy for not making sure it wasn't loaded with live rounds.
Why would they have live rounds on a movie set anyway?

As much as I dislike Baldwin I'm having a hard time blaming him. The Armorer is the one responsible for him getting a gun with live ammo. I just don't get why live ammo was even on the set.

On the one movie I acted as the armorer, I placed every round in every gun. The 1st director, stunt coordinator and myself all three inspected every round before it went in a gun. I provided the use of around 30 guns for the movie, also a western.
In one scene they needed two people with decent gun handling skills so the producer asked if myself and the stunt coordinator would be willing to step in and help them. The scene was basically we kick the door in jump into the cabin and get as many shots off as possible before we both get shot by the good guys. First take I had basically refused to point the gun at the actor so it looked like I was shooting at the ceiling. Next 2 takes I aimed for a spot right next to the actor. Didn't bother the actors though, they both aimed right at mine and the sc faces and pulled the trigger.
I don't like Alec but it's hard to lay the blame on him. On set it's the Armorers job to make sure it is loaded with blanks. We did have live rounds that we used for certain scenes just because blanks would have looked obvious and stupid, nor shot but just for looks.

Baldwin, dislike him as many may, was not a gun expert or even a "gun guy." That's why he hired someone to be the armorer on set, he knows nothing about it. I have had several surgeries in my life. I didn't perform them myself, I hired a professional. Did I ask him questions? Yes I did until I was comfortable to trust him to do it. After all I am no expert in that field.

Maybe he was pointing it at her and firing it, she is a whatever and not on the scene. If that is the case he is negligent and should be held accountable. It all depends what he was doing with the firearm, imo.

He's a hypocrite in the extreme. Were he honest, were he a man, being anti-gun, he would never handle one or be photographed with one. A man lives by his convictions, not by what some director says.

An ex LEO said this morning some of the crew were shooting the weapon after hours. He said the projectile passed through the lady and injured the director. Sad !!!

I get gun safety but to say that a gun is never pointed at a person in a theatrical production I don't think is realistic.
Does it warrant extra vigilance of course.
I disagree that the actor who likely has no gun knowledge is held responsible for being given a loaded weapon versus a blank gun and I highly doubt unless more nefarious things come out that Baldwin will or should be held accountable.
If anyone is to be held accountable the Asst director or the Armorer would seem the most logical, that said nothing will change what has already occurred and while this type of accident should always be prevented no one is infallible.

The lame stream media are still calling it a "mis-fire"...............the gun didn't mis-fire.........Baldwin pointed it and pulled the trigger. The gun functioned as designed.

I haven't heard any of the media use the term "negligent discharge"; it doesn't imply guilt or responsibility, which may or may not be determined by the investigators & juries.

The latest rumor is that some of the crew used that gun for actual target practice the day before. If it was a semi-auto, that brings up the possibility that they dropped the magazine but didn't clear the chamber. Then the idiot bimbo they hired as "armourer" failed to check it before it got handed to Baldwin.
I am now told that the gun was a single-action revolver. That obviates the above idea. Disregard.

They just said on the news an "armorer" named Hannah, who was 24 years old, was in charge of the weapons on the set. This couldn't have been set up to end any differently from what I'm hearing.

When I made that post above, I had only read about "a gun" and "a movie set" so was unaware that it was an Old West movie. Mea culpa for not doing more research first.
Having now read much more, I am stunned by the many instances of dumbshittery that took place on that set.
