Cartridge ID
I have been going through a quantity of old ammunition I have inherited trying to identify the various calibers. I need some guidance on a round that I think is WW I military, but can't pin it down further. The case is rimmed and 58 mm long. it has a tapered bottleneck similar to the 8mm Lebel. The bullet is FMJ and appears to be steel or steel alloy as it is white-metal rather than cupro-nickel or brass colored. The bullet measures 8.15 mm diameter just ahead of the case mouth. The headstamp reads, from 6 o'clock: HL, 19, at 9 o'clock; V. at 11 o'clock; I. at 12 o'clock;17 at 2 o;clock; and 18 at 3 o'clock. I think the 9 and 3 o'clock numbers are the year date 1918, the rest I have no clue.
Thanks in advance, Brian

Do they look like this?
Haerens Laboratorium Bullets - Axis History Forum
If so they might be 8x58R

Case length data from COTW seems to point at the 8x58Rmm Sauer or 8x58Rmm Danish Krag except they call for a .318 bullet.

HL is Denmark from 1912 to 1937. HL = Haerens Laboritorium, Copenhagen, DK
