    Covid 19 got him.

I was never a big fan of his but he did what he did.

That's what I thought when I read this.

Wow! If he passed at 84 then he was XO of Americal Division at 30.

I remember what he said about the Iraqi Army

”We’re going to find it, then we’re going to kill it.”

He was unfortunately brought into the controversy Of the finding Of WMD's that never were located. A stain on George Bush's leadership on The reason to invade Iraq. May he rest in peace, however.

Seems I remember he was hesitant about going to war in the middle east, but of all the powers that be during that time he was the only one that had actually been to war and shot at by the enemy.

Also said "if your going to take a country.....TAKE it". Very good logic there from an old war-horse even though I was not a big fan of his.

Although he was CJCS when I served, am not as deeply moved over his passing, but RIP.

I have mixed emotions about General Colin Powell. Will let it rest there. RIP General.

On a side note I use to collect and restore PV544s and 164 Volvos. Colin Powel was nuts about the PV544 that looked kind of like the old 38Ford. As I recall his green old PV544 Volvo sat in the show room of Hudson Valley Volvo for a very long time.------------Ray

He turned into a far leftie, for which he can never be forgiven.

Imagine how much deader he'd be if he hadn't been fully vaccinated, huh?

Rocky, if I could "like" your post twice I would do so.

    Well said !

He was Secretary of State when we invaded Iraq in 2003, and stayed in the position through 2005.

He was involved in one of the worst foreign policy decisions in US history.

Also, he was 84 and had lived a full life. What I think of him does not matter any more.

That was his political side, when he said what I quoted was during the Gulf War.....you "Take" it, he and Storming Norman made sure there was no pussy-footing around like we did in VN which save many U.S lives.

He served his country, by virtue of his rank he kept his nose clean and followed orders, had to be reasonably intelligent may he rest in peace. I think I would have preferred President Powell over Obama.

Yep, they are lying to us as usual because:

In his final report, the CIA’s top weapons inspector in Iraq said Monday that the hunt for weapons of mass destruction has gone “as far as feasible” and has found nothing.

Some WMD’s were found but they were not hidden, and they were all from the war from Iran. No facilities or weapons of mass destruction have been found which indicate that Saddam was actively producing them. In other words the rationale for the invasion of Iraq was complete unjustified on the grounds of WMD’s and the idea that Bin Laden/Al-Qaeda was collaborating with Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden having actively rebelled against Hussein.

Do Reports of WMD Found in Iraq Vindicate George W. Bush?
WMD were found in Iraq but does it matter?

    Here's an article from 2014.

You can keep believing liberal lies all you want.

Also much speculation that a lot of weapons were brought to Syria.

I don't believe the lies the liberals tell, and their bought and paid for media.

Regardless of political party or affiliation, when a politician speaks, take it with a grain of salt.

    They're all a bunch of lying SOB's. 😬

If you think the politicians are liars, you need to take a close look at main stream media.

If you are a DEMOCRAT, you dont have to lie. The media will do it for them.

I don't know if he became a far leftie. Maybe so. I remember he endorsed barrry sotoro, over mcclam, for president, so he might have just been a raysist. I don't think there was much difference between BO and JM anyway, except the shade of their skin. I believe Powell was a self made man who rose from humble beginnings and wore his country's uniform with pride and dignity. As a CJCS, he was head and shoulders above the current appointee.

The US forces had the Iraq troops running for their lives out of Kuwait. It would have been a short and simple job for us to continue right on into Bagdad thus stopping Hussein right then and there. But Powell stopped us, thus sowing the seeds for the later unnecessary Iraq war.

I respected Gen. Powell until he supported B. Hussein O................lost all respect for the man after that.

Ambivalent about his death.......he said not too long ago 'not to feel sorry for him'. I don't.

I will bet half of my bottom dollar though, that his underlying condition of multiple myeloma is tied to his service in the Vietnam war and his possible exposure the the defoilants used there.
