when I was a kid I flipped to back of a Remington flyer the biggest they listed was a 458 Mag
many years later around 1979 or so I ran across one ( ruger 458 win mag ) at a gun show it was calling my name first one I had ever I picked it up looked it over the price was more than I I had ever spent on a gun so I dropped my head and walked away thinking about it .. then a couple rows over some fellow had a box of 458 ammo same I had never seen a box of it at the local gun shows ( maybe because I never looked 😁 ) but I knew it was destiny calling me LOL I bought both that day still have the rifle it was /is a great conversation gun and fun to shoot . I was told my nephew bought a 460 whereby a few months back, but I have not to see him since then ( covid ) dang kids how to out gun me LOL

Ricci, this is a little out of my League but looks familiar. i am relying on my not so great memory and if I am wrong someone please correct me. Seems years ago Charles Daly sold similar guns and got them from Zastavia. i believe they called the barreled action a Mark X.
A lot of custom gun makers were buying that barreled action and doing their build. Well the bean counters at Remington did not like this and i think maybe it was cutting into their sales. So, the good old boys at Remington flew over there and struck a deal with Zastavia. "From now on you make that barreled action for only Remington." I think they were imported into Florida.
Well, about 10 years ago Remington perked up my interest and I purchased a matched pair put together in Tennessee plant for only a couple of years. Remington calls them a "798". One is a 375 H&H and one is a 458 Magnum . Both have 22" barrels and are Safari Grade. They are natural wood with a thin strip down the middle not the multiple laminations like the others. Mine have the classic rosewood forend cap that I prefer as opposed to the back rake angle. Of course they both have a nice recoil pad. The bluing is great and the metal to wood is pretty darn good also.----------------------------------------Ray

When my father bought this Remington, he was told that it would knock down any animal on the N. American Continent. 350 Rem Mag. It's a great brush gun due to it's shorter barrel.
