Yard sale “Stihl”

Wife called this morning and said a guy at a yard sale had this Stihl 021 for $20 but it wouldn’t start. I said yes, buy it. The pawl that engages the pull cord was broken. I had an old 170 and it had the same part.

I put fresh gas and cleaned it up a bit and it fired right up.

I’m going to take the missus to dinner tonight.

    That's a score! I had a guy offer me $500 for an old 009L that I keep in the back of my truck. I guess the new ones are not near as good as the old ones.

    I hope you don't get arrested!! There is no question you stole that!! Best bet when the cops show up on your door step, just point at your wife and say "She bought it, not me!" 😁

    Hit a yard sale a few years ago, back when Homelite saws were the cats meow. Don't remember the model but it looked like almost new. Tag looked like the price was 100.00. Owner said nope 10.00, won't start. Brought it home, checked it out, yep, return fuel line dry rotted. Robbed the guts out of a ink pen and verroom saw started on second pull.

    Great Score Jim! My luck around here at local yard sales following advertised listings in the paper would put me on a wild goose chase looking for your brand of chain saw. After traveling over miles of unpaved, washed out, goat path roads, I'd find this:

    just bringing the granddaughter home from school and passed a house with chainsaw sitting out in yard by road, swung around and went back to see if they were gonna throw it away, it was white and orange thought it was a stihl, turns out it was an electric remington, lady said it wouldn't work when she plugged it in, just smoked, kinda figured it was above my skill level, would have given a gas motor a try, not electric, and never heard of remington............
