You need to March straight out there n leave some Nanuq urine scent on those broken branches. That's what I would do,,,,, maybe? I'm sure it's a great big critter deterrent though.

Are your pet bears denned up now or are they still out and about?

    Call the Big Foot people.

    Might be Darrel.

Few years ago (I was a teenager) I was hog hunting with dogs, all at once a dog came running out of thick brush to me, got right behind me, I could hear something coming fast breaking brush and snorting, took aim, big sow with pigs broke out of the brush at close range and wanted the dog and I was in her path. I throwed down the gun (a Remington pump 35 cal Model 141) and climbed a tree very fast. The dog left with the sow and pigs in close pursuit.

I'm a good shot but I had seen what mad sows with pigs can do to pests. No time to be brave.

Well then check outside for a "suicide" victim.

It just could be one of those pesky small critters making BIG noise in the dark! 🙂

Some evolved over a plethora of years learning how to cast a giant shadow along with a scary growl. Of coarse a Wolverine may be on the small side but I learned a long time ago to not get in their way!

Bear WERE denned up, we had 24" of snow and winter seemed to be here. Now we have a chinook going on and it's melted all the snow. So the bears are up again, probably cranky this time.

The ole boar bears around here might never truly hibernate, just den up in real cold freezing weather
