I know a lot of people who just feel compelled to spend atrocious amounts of money on things that only interest themselves.
If they've got it, they spend it on seemingly illogical 'stuff'.

Handy repurposing of the pallet racking but I'd guess it may weeble wobble a bit in the wind. Need a few more of the matching horizontal supports in there as those X'd 2x4's will not be enough.

...The coldest and wettest Ive ever been, was while I was deer hunting...so I would have dearly loved to have had any type of stand for those times...after years of hunting, I bought a nice stand, I could heat, stay dry and warm...nearly freezing to death and being soaking wet is not my idea of a "good time" hunting"...ever try and hit a deer while shivering?...

lots of people have things that they can say to the rest of the world "look at what i have".

nothing on that level but I worked with a good old boy who owned some farm land ( family passed down ) any way he had a older camper trailer along a field in a tree line had a coffee pot / a heater and all the comforts of home and added a shooting port towards his " corn pile feeding grounds ) drove to the trailer and back home and always bragged he got a deer every year 😁
I truly liked the guy he was a Vietnam vet ( radio operator/ carrier ) easy going , very likable fellow for sure, he was just a few years older then me. but I would remind him , its your land no one else hunts it , you feed them all year and then shoot out out of a home away from home .. well OK I see no sport but , I would tease him but it made him happy that's what mattered and his wife and kids did not have to worry about him out hunting 😉

back in the early 1970s a farmer buddy would park his $100,000 New Holland corn sheller in the midst of his 3/4 harvested field. cushioned seat, power windows, heat and AC, and a accessory outlet for his coffee pot. would arrive a few minutes before legal shooting light, and start it up and let run a while. LSL comes he shuts it off and waits. deer were wise to the operation of the machinery, and the likelyhood of easy food was great. he never had to sit more than 1/2 hour any year and he would be driving it back home with deer strapped onto the corn header.
