shoulda known better..........
we have a big flat sandstone rock in front of the porch in the wifes flower bed and had our name painted on it with the incorporated date. well its only been 3-4 years and most of the paint has worn off and the stone itself is allmost black. I have noticed on the side of the interstate a small slip or rocks and they are flat pieces of blue slate. well today on the way home I had the grandson with me and decided to climb up and get one.
well since the hip replacement, lets just say I am not as nimble as I once was. we climbed up about 30-40 feet above the road and found a nice flat stone about an inch to inch and half thick and about 30 inches or so around. I told the grandson this one would work, so down we started, lets just say going up was easier than going down. I slid more than walked, as soon as I would get my footing I would loose it and down I went, We did make it to the bottom with the rock in one piece, more than I can say for myself, as I left a lot of hide on the side of the hill. I just hope momma is happy with her new rock!! I know it is gonna cost me a limp for the next week or so. gotta wonder how many of those folks in the passing cars were laughing their butts off.........

All those passers must have laughed at a guy stealing rock. At least you can sell hubcaps.
I have done the same, rock for reptile exhibits, aquariums, cactus gardens.
Next time, let's go for the hubcaps.

During our trip to NM last year, Grandson saw a rock he thought was worth bringing home. He was ready to get out and grab it when I cautioned him to check for rattlesnakes before picking it up. He was not interested in a stupid rock anymore.😏

Well, My Son and I were told just that, at a Campground we were staying at on the Maine Coast. We had spent hours collecting some nice rocks, only to be told the above quote. We were told to "put them back." 😕
Apparently we were "Rock Thieves." 🙄

We had/have been to that Campground many times (11?) Over the years. I understood where they were coming from. 🤔 (And) Yeah, we did have a bunch. (Initially.)

Thou shale not steal. Or take rocks for granite. Just lava them alone. Of quartz they are pretty, but they're best left just obsidian there.
