I heard it was 400 feet. 133 yards. Anyone decent with a rifle could pull that off. Good thing this guy wasn't.

Exactly, had to be one or the other. Even people in the crowd were shouting, "he's got a gun...on the roof" 10 to 15 seconds BEFORE he shot. How come an average person could see the danger, but NONE of the HIGHLY trained snipers saw it?

The DEI head of the USSS, a woke female gives me the willies , Her stated goal recently made on a major national TV station was to make the service 30% female , thats fine if they are the most qualified and meet the same standards of this Elite protective branch, but , I don't think her motive is to have the best, just the most diversified. I think that most common sense people realize DEI is a sham and deletes instead of adds to where ever it is instituted .
Her not having any direct contact with any news organization or joining in on any press briefing ( at the time of this post 9:40 am Sunday) after all other involved agencies have several times, speaks volumes as to ineptitude or lack of giving a sh*t.
The simple lack of proper planning , of covering the high ground, of a proper detail assignments , and not using drones to cover for any possible less than optimal boots on the ground is a dereliction of duty .

Nothing against women being agents. But not on this detail. Watching one the of the 5’ 3” female agents trying to use their body to protect a 6’ 3” male makes no sense at all.

I seems to be "a lack of planning and minimal research" that allowed the shooter access. Thankfully, citizens noticed the shooter before the agents, who should have. This goes beyond dropping the ball.
The actual personal protection agents did a credible job covering Trump with their own bodies.

I'll try to attach a ground view from google earth. It shows the red buildings which were behind Trump, the company buildings where the shooter was AND A WATER TOWER. You couldn't ask for a better vantage point for an observer to watch the entire area.

The female agent in the group that immediately ran to the podium clearly didn't know what to do until the agent on the stairs pushed her to join the group surrounding Trump. Another female agent at the vehicle they were putting Trump into fumbled with her handgun trying to get it back in the holster while not helping at all. A third with a long brown pony tail also appeared to do nothing.

As for the OP question, I'm voting for 'look the other way orders'. Anyone with the supposed training Secret Service implies who can't figure out that someone needs to watch adjacent rooftops needs to be gathering garbage after the crowd leaves.

You would think the cop who confronted the shooter on the roof would've did a mag dump. I suppose after defund cops, the cops don't want to be preemptive in doing their job and they don't wanna get sued.

The info on how security was handled gets more unbelievable every day.
First story, SS director says they did not want to put agents on the roof where shooter was because it was a slanted roof and it was not safe for SS personnel.
Second story, a person notified a state policeman half hour before shooting that there was someone outside the building with a range finder pointed to where president was going to speak.

From the more detailed pics and layout I saw, doing so would have resulted in bullets flying in the general direction of the crowd. Not sure a 'mag dump' was the appropriate response but neither was running away.
So many things about this scenario point toward a 'set up' or outright incompetence. No over watch from the water tower. Two counter sniper teams arrayed to watch an open field occupied by already 'vetted' crowd. The amateurish comment that the 'slanted roof' was too dangerous for a SS counter sniper team to use. The slow response to reports of an unknown person with a rifle on that same roof. The obviously poorly trained and/or incapable agents assigned to President Trump's security detail. All these things are questionable.

There is NO way an officer climbed onto the roof with the help of another officer, unless said officer was 8 foot tall. That was a TWO story building. All BS stories from the powers to be, trying to cover their own butts!
