Amazing pictures, Mr. Mule! Just one question… What is the huge machine that's being moved?

Rig 16 – Oil Drilling Operations in Alaska's North Slope
DDI Rig 16 is capable of working efficiently in extreme arctic conditions. It is a fully integrated, single- module unit that measures 119 feet long by 42 feet wide, and is capable of drilling on ten-foot wellhead spacings. The rig layout consists of three enclosed levels to provide maximum operational and heating efficiency.

119 feet by 42 feet. I was going to ask if it could drill me a new water well since mine may disappear into a sink hole. At that size it would create a sink hole. So, nevermind.

Susie, my favorite is this one

I was part of the supervisory staff watching over it years ago when I was with BP Alaska in Prudhoe, and was with the operation when the photographs were taken on Juliet pad in western operating area of Prudhoe Bay.

Biggest part of my fond memories were the crews, they were flawless and treated their rig with the respect and maintenance she deserved.

    Nice pictures.

My father used to work as a merchant marine out of Seattle on a tanker and he would see the lights when he was in Alaska loading oil that was going to Japan.
