Late Rut?
Went to get in my truck yesterday evening to go to Shoprite and caught these two cavorting (Is that the right word?) in my Chinese neighbors back yard. He has Chinese restaurant down in Village but is a real slob. These two took a short hop over both my chain link fences but ran up against my other neighbors 10 footer. Back they came and crossed both my fences again. They stayed in Chen's yard for over a hour "Cavorting" and enjoying his delicious left over garden.
Not a great picture and i never could figure if 6 or 8 pointer. Cheap flip phone and they were very shy about being caught in the Act. I could not really get close enough.—————————Ray

Great Pic… Thanks for posting it.. Not sure of the normal rut calendar where you live. There is a secondary rut usually some weeks after the initial rut. Does that were not bred will come back into season a second time usually 28 days later according to what I have read and observed over the years…

and then again if not bred every 28 days or so

Maybe? Observations in the MidWest indicate some bucks are already shedding antlers. We found a fresh shed last week and Grandson (Dept of Conservation employee) says shedding is in progress across the northern tier counties of MO.

That doe is just a late night pickup from the forest.
And yes the bucks are shedding in southern Il.
