5-6" of 'dry snow' isn't a big deal in north MO. Not even going to bother with the road but will blow the snow off the deck so it doesn't thaw and refreeze into ice. There are some drifts but the snow isn't wet and heavy so just blow right through those if emergency travel is necessary. Both retired and have plenty of groceries so no need to do more than take care of chores and watch TV.

got the drive done but am huffing and puffing, had to take quite a few breaks, top was fluffy/dry but the bottom inch or so was heavy wet. worst was where I drove in and out of garage, had to literally scrape/chisel it loose to get to the concrete. by time I was done the other end was white again, and it is gonna stay that way for a while, radio said another 3-5 by evening so may wait till tomorrow or later tonight to get the rest that comes down. I have about 40ft of double driveway and with my shortness of breath and other things that is quite a bit to do in 20 degree weather. gonna catch my breath and warm up some now,got pot of hot chocolate on, some reason it sounded better than coffee right now……

Everyone that is getting out in this mess to shovel be extremely mindful. It seems like easy work but the health care professionals will let you know in a heartbeat it can stop your heartbeat.

Oh, and I'm just about 30 miles south of ice on the trees and snow on the ground. Here at my place we dodged the bad stuff. Just have 20 degree weather with windchill of about 5. Chickens are too stupid to go in the coop so I'm having to lift them out of the tree and barn rafters with my garden rake and put them up at night.

I look like a circus balance act but instead of plates I have chickens. I've perfected the act to where I can lift a rooster with one hand. 🤣

You'd better take it easy, hillbillie. We got only 2" of snow but the sleet and freezing rain made a crust on top. Tree limbs are coated with ice. Fortunately there's no wind so maybe the power will stay on. I'm worried about my grandson getting to work this evening. He has a Subaru but doesn't have much experience driving in these conditions. They live off the main road and their road is usually the last to be treated.

I can see the 4 lane from my house. Traffic seems to be moving well.

You folks that live in the snow belt probably scoff at 3 inches of snow, but our youngins have no experience with these conditions.

Heck, if I was 30 years younger, I'd have my truck ou pulling people out of the ditches.

Funny how this storm went with such a narrow ban. We were supposed to get .5 inch and 40 miles south was going to get 14 inch. Wife is down close to Keokuk Iowa, maybe 5 miles north of there, which is 40 miles south of here. She said they got nothing there, but 10 miles south of her they got hit with heavy snow.
Only thing predictable about the weather is, it’s unpredictable.

We got a bit of that.

I'm very thankful we've got a good snowblower!

Round two is headed this way Friday. 1-3 inches is predicted. Did multiple winter trips to Minnesota and so I know that isn't a lot of snow. The flip side is that here in Southern Missouri the majority of roads are secondary or gravel. They won't be prepped, plowed or passable.

We have now accumulated 87.5 inches this snow season. As long as the power stays on I don't care. Hate hooking that generator up.

We got 6-7" but the 30+ MPH winds moved it around quite a bit. Started out with a little ice, then sleet and finally snow. I got the porches and sidewalks finished off first thing this a.m. Neighbor called and said he would be over with the tractor and do the driveway. (Good neighbors are a blessing) It sure beats the heck out of me trying to move some 3 foot plus drifts…

Neighbor just rolled through…. All gone and the drive is clear to the road. Not too sure about our gravel road, might have to check that out later today once they get the main road cleared off.

Up here in New York State on the Vermont border, its like the scene from the movie White Christmas. No snow to be found, just a dusting. Though it's getting cold…I had to bust the ice out the toilet with my squirrel rifle…🙂

They are riding those noisy things in the UP. Trails are groomed weekly.
