Stopped in at Lowes and got the Contractor's Card....I guess I'm "somebody" now
I am constantly having to run to Home Depot or Lowes and pick up the rolls of paper for our shipping. The paper is in the paint department and we use SEVERAL rolls per week to pad our boxes and wrap things for shipping. Its the most cost affective way we have found to assure things are packed VERY well for shipping.
Anyway, these rolls of paper are around $13 each and I typically buy ALL they have in stock when I pick it up from the store. They never have a whole lot, just 30-40 rolls. So, I grab all I can when I go.
This lady saw me loading up on paper and asked me if I had a contractor card? I told her I did not. She asked if I had checked into getting the paper delivered……I had checked into this, you had to get it delivered to the store, then they would bring it out in a box truck to our location….but that costs $80 in delvery fees. She told me if I had the contractor card it would be $20 delivery!
WHATTTTT!!!! That was all I had to hear. I hate getting paper….I'm totally over it…..we always run out at the worst possible time and its never convenient to pick up a mountain of paper rolls.
So, I am now a "contractor" according to Lowes. Any of you need any cabinet work or plumbing done…..I'll be happy to get on over and work my magic.

I have the "card", it knocks of 5% of purchase.
Did I mention I had just as soon have barium enema as to going to the local Lowes store.
Some stores are great, management is the key.

Been a Lowes contract member since 2010. I bought so many appliances for rentals the salespeople knew what type of Fridges and Stoves I needed. Service was superb

I typically prefer Home Depot over Lowes, its the craziest thing….but it seems that Home Depot is brighter, more cheery, cleaner, compared to the Lowes around here. I feel like the Lowes is darker and less staffed….with a less tidy feel to the store. I don't think the Home Depot locations are a "lot" better….just a bit noticeable in my opinion.
I don't know what it is with most of the big box stores….but they all seem to hire the same type people these days. They cannot be getting the workers from the area the store is located from what I can tell. The surrounding area will be nicer homes, better schools, but the employees they manage to find are NOT from these locations. I have no clue how they manage to fill the entire roster like they do.

Management is the key. But, But, you think the supply chain and work force aree bad now, just hang on.
I have been a custom home builder for 50 plus years, I have seen it all.
Our Lowes seems to cater to handymen and tourist with small issues.
I absolutely avoid them unless it very unique item that they stock.
Dang my bride of 53 years maiden name is Lowe. She is not part of the big money Lowes.
She is part Cherokee and bull dog, What time she is not on the warpath she is setting on her behind growling. Grins.

LF,
I did a bit of snooping, and I'm assuming you are buying the 3'x140' roll of kraft paper at lowes?
If so, you are paying WAY too much, compared to uline. You can get about the same amount for $50 or so, compared to the $111 you are spending now.

Check out ULINE, they have lots of stuff. Some is stupid expensive, so just watch the pricing!
Also, if you buy that paper by the skid, it is MUCH cheaper than by the roll!
