plated bullets follow up of HPD and berrys bullets
found an article in the 2017 gun digest where 10 different bullets with different coatings were tested for velocity. tested bullets were in .45acp and .38 super cal. Berry's were the slowest and lubricated lead bullets were the fastest. one conclusion was plated bullets required .6 grains more powder {win 231} than cast bullets to reach 800fps. moly coated were slower than lead but faster than plated. accuracy was not tested. conclusion: coated bullets have slower velocity due to reduced friction and pressure. they can also be driven faster with proper loads. final conclusion was that load data had to be adjusted to obtain desired results for each bullet used. {nothing new there}.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that information.
