loknlode - the artist formally known as .......
rambo rebel (don't ask - alcohol was involved). I got up to a lot of posts back in the Capt. fun days and I was selling a lot on the auction side. When the site went through the big hiccup, I lost everything and luckily, had to change names. Joined GB in 2000 or so. Anyway, I recognized a few of the names still posting away today. Sad to see some of the ones still not around.
I retired this year so I'm just piddling around looking for my next "thing" Getting back slowly into doing some art and other creative endeavors. I used to design T-shirts & posters, usually themed around rock bands of the 60's and 70's. Nothing big that you'd have heard of but I sold quite a few through word of mouth. I'm trying to put together a studio in one of the packed with stuff spare BR's but it's been a challenge.
If the wife gets to where she can be a little more mobile (serious back issues - she has a spinal cord stimulator), we'll do some traveling. Neighbor's wife is from the Philippines and goes home to visit family every couple of years so I though it would be nice if we went with her on one of those trips. I'd like to do a trip to Argentina as well. Don't know why but I'd like to from what I've read. Maybe I'll learn to speak German for S&G's.
We'll probably sell the homestead here in Travelers Rest (SC) when she retires this year. It's a PNTA taking care of 4 acres. Not really that bad - I have a lawn crew take care of the acre or so that's cleared. But it is getting crowded. Subdivisions popping up just a couple miles away. Still feels like the country but I want to get a little further away from the sprawl. I was looking at TN but found out through internet research that SC has some of the lowest tax and cost of living rates in the country. That's why all the dam yankees and cali people are moving here. They made land prices go up by 30% or more just in the past 3-4 years.
If we didn't have this one azzhat for a neighbor things would be a lot better here. He has "issues" according to his mother who lives behind him. The property line is 200 feet from our house and I have had to file a no trespass notice against him and install cameras and lights at the property line to try and keep him honest. We've had to call the po po about 4 times and each time I asked the officer what his gut feeling was and they have all said he wasn't playing with a full deck. So, in response, he has called animal control on us twice in the past. Both times the ACO found that there was no basis for his complaint and that just makes him worse. Two weekends ago, my SIL came over about 1pm Saturday and wanted to test his new Sig 9mm in the backyard. He fires it and the neighbor shouts "quit making all that noise" at the top of his lungs or so it sounded. I just told SIL to pay him no attention and keep firing. He has even said he would whip my A if I got anymore grass clippings in his yard, and he was standing in my yard when he made the threat. I wasn't trying to get clippings on his side. The "old" me would have went to jail that day. Called the po po again - nothing they could do AGAIN. Didn't know it at the time but he is extremely * about his yard. If there are more than 100 leaves in the yard, he has to get out the mower and chop them up. He must have ADHD to the max, bi-polar or something. Those type people are easy to mess with but I just try to leave him alone but the dips^&* just won't mind his own business. I may start covert ops if you have any ideas. Not scared of the guy, I just know that type person might do anything even if he's too stupid to do it right.
We have a sweet 6yo German shepherd named Emoji. I'm 67 and the wife is 65.
If any of you are close to the upstate of SC (the dark corner it's referred to), hmu and we'll do coffee and a shoot on the backyard range. It's about 100'-150'. nothing fancy but it annoys the neighbor😡😁
sorry for the long backstory, but it covered 4-5 years, lol. see ya around.

Welcome back. You got in under the wire before the next big change. Hopefully this transition will be smoother than the last. Good luck with the neighbor. I would invest in a few trail cams.

Long ago I lived in Travelers Rest.It was a good place back then.Last time I was there traffic was horrible, housing developments everywhere and very few of the people that live there, are from there. TR has turned into Simpsonville. Locals know what that means.

Are you still digging out from the snowstorm. We are. I just towed my brother out of the ditch a few minutes ago. The ditch is on our long steep driveway.

Thanks. I have 4 live - motion activated cameras all along the watch tower. he can't go out his front or back door w/o me knowing it. And recording it. I'm about to install a 16' pole with 2 8000 lms led solar streetlights coming off it 10' from the property line.
