I use a LED Lenser 212 lumins...super bright and runs on 4 AA batteries for a long time. Focused beam or flood. I tried the "blood" lights without success. This is my only tracking light now.

I have the Gerber one. It has a nice beam and also the "blood" light. Have'nt had a chance to use the blood one yet, she didn't run far enough.[:D]

Not sure if they are made in the US but it is nice to see there returns and customer service is in the US. I got mine off ebay for 76. Very happy with it.

I also had the gerber and liked it very much. Dropped it one night and didn't know it and ran over it. I am not sure why the blood lights don't work for me, but I found it hard in the fall foilage of red leaves to see blood at night. But the white beam on the gerber is good also.

It is the Gerber Carnivore. It has a Lexon bulb and also lights that show the color red. Mind you, everything red will show up. Like I said earlier, never had a chance to use it yet.

I don't like LED for blood trail. Just a regular bulb works best for me. Haven't tried the blood light

Ive got a Gerber and it does show up red.. red dots on leaves and I dont like it. It is better to have just a good bright light.

I don't think I have ever heard of any one using a lantern before...that's a new one on me. Even the ol' timers out at the camp use flashlights.

I have used several lights, but with limited improvement over a good bright light. I like the Streamlight Stinger. Maybe just because that is what nearly everyone in Law Enforcement carries (I work at the Sheriff's Office) but it is a good tough light, and makes tons of light. Also it is re-chargeable, but when the batteries fail they are expensive.

+1 for the coleman lantern. The illumination for blood tracking is second to none.
