Security of a free state....
"A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The reference to `state' in the above statement...is this a clear warning to STATES to not meddle in the Second Amendment, also ?
Generally recognized by sane people as a bar to federal government control of weapons, the reference to `state' above surely cannot apply to that government, also...for the Bill of Rights was mainly directed towards limiting federal government.
Am I missing a point..that the Founders referred to the Union as a 'state' ?

I am speaking to folks everyday that are in total outrage over the situation, and what may be coming up in proposed bills,........nothing to do with Dems, or Repubs,......just utter disgust with the destruction of our Republic as it was meant to be.
I believe Highball mentioned something similar.
Spend your energy where it is worth something,......and you have a lot of worthiness to go around![;)]

You know Marc me and my father discuss the 2A on a regular basis now a days. All the restrictive bills locally and federally being introduced these days. We never used to discuss it,and when I used to mention it he thought I was just a "gun freak" now we both see eye to eye and he's mad about the distruction of the constitution too.
Don't know if I ever told you he's a korean vet and is PO'd about what they fought for to be flushed down the toilet.0 -

Im new to this forum but im a firm believer in the bill of rights and the fact that it should not be infringed in any way shape or form. Im very pro gun and believe we should be able to have any firearm and that the 2nd amendment states that we should and can have up to date modern firearms. The second amendment isnt about duck hunting but i dont think that it is fine to have semi-auto firearms only. Full auto is perfectly legal but to who, the rich. full auto firearms are expensive and require paperwork but with some gunsmithing skill and the right tools it is illegal to do it yourself. why is it that it is legal to purchase a super expensive gun when you can build one for much lower cost yet that is illegal i dont understand it and any criminal with some know how in firearms can do the same and they sure as hell dont care about gun laws 0 -
