All of you out there that have been talking bad about California people and saying we don't do anything to protect our rights, looks like the same people are after your rights too.
It is not about if these new laws or programs will work to reduce crime, they don't care about that. It is all about control. Same as this stimulus bill crap. It is all about control. The more people they can put on the government programs the less fight thye will have whne they want to tax us more.
Get out and do something. California is pretty much a lost cause. We have too many liberals and us conservatives have a tough fight.
I have written many letters to my local politicians. When talking about gun control I always ask them if the gang members that are killing each other and shooting little kids have registered guns.
Do they also have CCW's because they all are packing?
They caught a 15 year old with an AK-47 stuck in his sweat pants with a 30 round clip in the middle of Oakland, California on a school day.
How many things are wrong with that one.
Bring up the existing laws that are being broken when you talk to these people. We don't need more laws just better enforcement.
We have a tough fight ahead.
The only thing I see wrong with that is a "clip" goes in a girls hair and a MAG goes in a gun.
Also your statment about not needing MORE laws WTH so your OK with the ones we have? You sir are a sheep. How about "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" bring that up to your local politicians.0 -

We have lost the hearts and minds of our fellow `citizens';
We have lost in the jury box, simply because most refuse to educate themselves of their RESPONSIBILITES as a Juror...that they are there to judge the LAW as much as the law-breaker.
There is the Ballot Box, the Jury Box...and the Cartridge Box. Those three boxes are the legs upon which freedom rests.
Two of them are hopelessly corrupted.
Highball, well said

Of course for that to happen, we gun owners would have to work together so it is nothing but a pipe dream.
Precisely why we do need to start working together better. We need the politicians to fear our vote as much as they seem to fear our guns. Right now they fear the votes of the "I want a government handout" crowd more than they fear our votes and that needs to change. We're the ones paying the taxes so we need to get organized so we'll be heard.

I don't post often, not much of a conversationist, but I read here most everyday and think on the matter constantly.
As long as anyone is willing to accept any restrictions on RKBA there will be no meaningfull progress or cooperation in restoring of our CONSTITUTIONAL and GOD givin rights. If you are willing to accept a few restrictions ie. background checks, mag limits, registration etc. now, what will you agree to in the future??
The only position IMO that is defendable and right is NONE, not now, not ever.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Canary Asses please keep up the good work, there alot of us who dont post much but work at educating friends and family at all times, who agree with and support your efforts0 -

Deadred707 that is funny.
What you got out of that was the slip up with the clip and mag?
You missed the point.
The point is I am not happy with our current laws and write at least one letter a week to one of the idiots this state has elected.
There are very few people that actually write or call their congress person. I have called 4 times and written 5 different people so far this week.
We need to not piss each other off too much and band together to fight the gun control lobbysts and stop this huge waste of money on the stimulus package.0 -

So in the CCRKBA spam mail I received on HR45, it said 2 years in, registration would be retroactive and that every gun in existence would have to be registered. I'm no lawyer, is this true? 0 -

jp,
This is straight from the text of HR45:
(c) Elimination of Prohibition on Establishment of System of Registration- Section 926(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking the second sentence.
It is quite clear what they are up to, and it's no secret what their ultimate goal is.[:(!]
This is Sec. 202 Firearm Records (in it's entirety from HR45)
SEC. 202. FIREARM RECORDS.
(a) Submission of Sale or Transfer Reports- Not later than 14 days after the date on which the transfer of qualifying firearm is processed by a licensed dealer under section 922(bb) of title 18, United States Code (as added by section 201 of this Act), the licensed dealer shall submit to the Attorney General (or, in the case of a licensed dealer located in a State that has a State firearm licensing and record of sale system certified under section 602 of this Act, to the head of the State agency that administers that system) a report of that transfer, which shall include information relating to--
(1) the manufacturer of the firearm;
(2) the model name or number of the firearm;
(3) the serial number of the firearm;
(4) the date on which the firearm was received by the transferee;
(5) the number of a valid firearm license issued to the transferee under title I of this Act; and
(6) the name and address of the individual who transferred the firearm to the transferee.
(b) Federal Record of Sale System- Not later than 9 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Attorney General shall establish and maintain a Federal record of sale system, which shall include the information included in each report submitted to the Attorney General under subsection (a).
(c) Elimination of Prohibition on Establishment of System of Registration- Section 926(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking the second sentence.0 -

Thank you Highball.
You are absolutely correct.
I am learning something very important here.
Calling and writing letters is of no use.
Once again thank you.0 -
Steve ;
Please understand. I did not come to this rodeo fresh out of the womb.
I too spent LOTS of time writing letters, editors, getting `good men elected to office'.
All during that time I watched My America continue to swirl in ever tighter circles down the drain.
There reached a point that I finally realized that we as a Nation had tipped over the crest...that there was no longer any hope in conventional means for redress of the evils we are seeing and living thru.
I believe to the core of my being that the ONLY proper response today is to withdraw form the political process, gather supplies, and prepare yourself and your loved ones for a breakdown in society.
Network with trusted friends of long standing, and spend some time talking over possibilities and probabilities.0 -
C.A.1
The country I love is turning into a third world. You see it everywhere. Especially on the coasts, both east and west.
I would like to believe that it is fixable but I don't see how. With the new administration wanting to play robin hood and steal from the rich and give to the poor we are in serious danger. They are borrowing over three trillion dollars to create new and expanded programs for the poor. Most of the poor are poor due to their own fault. The government is enabling the propagation of the problem by paying for everything they need. Food stamps, health care, and subsidized housing are destroying our country.
The gangs are increasing and becoming more brazen every day. The police are not able to do what needs to be done to fix the problems. The threat of lawsuits has destroyed what little control they ever had.
Buffalobob made a comment that they fear the "I want a handout crowd". That is incorrect. They are trying to increase the members of that crowd. That is why in the next year or so they will naturalize all of the illegal aliens. They will dilute the numbers so we will really not have a say in what happens.
Scary situation.0 -
Steve ;
Please do not make the fatal mistake of believing that somehow this is a `democrat' inspired problem.
BOTH parties are complecent in the utter degradation of the ideals of America.
I also do not believe the programs passed yesterday have much to do with `poor folks'.
I think the money will end up exactly where the FIRST hundreds of billions went...into the pockets of the Elites. They are making their final run on America..looting the Treasury for their own private gains.
I have one fervent prayer left.
Please, Lord, allow these corrupted Elites to think that they have whipped the bedrock Americans left in this country. Allow them to think that there is nothing left out here but grafters, grifters, garbage, and the human debris that makes up Most of the population of America.
Convince them to make their final play for total tyranny...SOON.0 -
"Nothing is ever done in this world until men are prepared to kill one another if it is not done"

Just as we the people had to fight the redcoats to gain our independence and shake off the bonds of oppression and tyranny, we the people will have to fight the turncoats to keep what our forefathers paid so high a price for. Freedom is NOT free, it has been and will continue to be purchased by the blood of those who desire it. Someone once said, the secret of happiness is freedom, and the secret of freedom, courage.0 -

Highball: Well said.The enemy has been on the march for some time.They believe it will take just one more push to make their sick dreams a reality.They are assaulting the gate and are almost through.
But I think they forgot who is on the other side of that gate.Their college degrees,high dollar cocktail parties and elitest attitudes have led them to believe that all are sheep waiting to be told what to do.Self-reliant,hard working people who carry guns are outside of their experience so they assume they don't exist.
I think the look of surprise on their faces will be worth the price of admission.0 -

They don't need luck. They've got Rebecca Peters' religious fervor and George Soros' money.
It WILL happen. Soon. I am completely convinced of it and here's why...I have a co-worker who's a Union Democrat. He's also an avid shooter and gun owner. He looked at the entire text of HR 45, shrugged and sincerely proclaimed, "They'll never be able to do that."
Taking a cue from some of you tin-foil hats (OKOKOKOK, Canary Asses) here on GunBroker, I told him, "Not all at once. The NRA will get it watered down just enough to be palatable. Remember, they've been working on this since 1968. They're patient. They'll chip away at it"0 -

I hate to always disagree...but depressed is not the answer here.
We have IDENTIFIED one of the primary causes of gun control, now, and identifying the underlying cause of a disease is the first step in curing it.
We here now need to draw together and formulate a real, firm plan to combat that disease.
We are in that process today, as we debate the issue. Every day there is a new idea to look at, a different slant to the issue. Every day, another individual comes to his feet and decides that he is no longer a subject...One man at a time.
We are hard upon a period that happens only once every several hundred years...the chance to once again advance the cause of freedom.
The Elites are running wild ..and they think that the brass ring is just within their reach.
We shall see.0 -

I take a measure of hope in the thought that the lowest common denominator that got the current crop of thieves elected are a short-sighted bunch. When the pretty words and vague promises fail to produce anything but more confusion and weirdness, maybe they'll revolt, demanding their pathetic instant gratification.
The problem there is that they'll probably just fall for the next round of sparkly ieas wrapped in brightly-colored tissue.
The problem then is who is the next Ron Paul? Dare I hope for a re-invention of the Republican Party?
I'd like to think that the firing of the whole hierarchy of the RNC is a good sign.0 -

Well, it's better to at least consider another's point of view than sit back and snipe like I had been doing.
I'm not ready to give up on the Republic.
I consider it an American trait to keep faith in my country.
I can only hope it's done without pitting families and friends against one another in open warfare.0 -
I would say mass civil disobedience is a forgone conclusion. This would be no less unpopular than the Volstead Act and we all know how that turned out.
As noted, a lot of the people who voted for this current crop of crooks are counting on "they'll never be able to do that" but they surely will. We, who understand, need to stand ready to educate these people as to the error of their ways as each of these bills is proposed and, most definitely, when the first one is passed. We have to start building our numbers for a ground swell of political outrage before it comes to civil disobedience or civil war. Armed resistance has to be the last possible option because, even if we prevail, the nation won't fully recover in our lifetimes or our children's.
We just have to guard against sounding like radical whack jobs when we pursue this education process. It's easy to do when you feel as passionately about a principal as most of us do. I have to do it daily with the former Peace Corps uber-liberals I work with.0 -

The key to this is to present the Constitution as the sparkly idea. The way the gun grabbers have taken bites out of our rights is the way to get them back. It is nothing new. It is what has worked on humans since time immemorial. One way I see is getting the message out to the burgeoning Hispanic population that the 2nd Amendment is there for them too and an important part of why they have come to this country. Get them on board and we have active, vibrant voting allies.0 -

This is business as usual there. but I can't see a AK 'stuck' in sweat pants. [;)]
That said, look north to our neighbors who have had a 'registration' requirement for several years and it has failed miserably and cost billions. And those in Canada are nearly as passionate about the RTKABA's as we here are. Not to mention the sheer numbers involved.
One thing we should not forget, a law is only as effective as the those who are dedicated and FUNDED to enforce it. It must pass the 'reality test' I keep talking about.
We shall see how this unfolds!!![V]0
