I looking at buying either a Ruger GP100 4" SS 357 or a comparable Taurus. Any comments about either.

You won't be sorry with the GP 100. It may be a little difficult to conceal if thats your intent. I have no experence With the Taurus. 0 -
I believe them both to be quality firearms. But why not keep the home folks employed? Ruger - definatley.

THE RUGER FRAME IS VERY STOUT, BUT IF YOU ARE WANTING TO DO TRIGGER WORK, THE RUGER ASSEMBLY CAN BE DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH. OVERALL, I FEEL THE RUGER IS A BETTER ASSEMBLY THAN TAURUS IN A REVOLVER TYPE WEAPON. 0 -
Ruger...Ruger...Ruger....enough said![:)] 0 -
I have and shoot both makes of revolvers.
If spending money for a new on another revolver or grabbing one out of the safe it will be a Ruger.

I have a stainless Taurus model 85. Nice gun and easy to carry. I thought the Ruger was a little too heavy, but Rugers are good guns. I picked up a used .38 special in Titanium - Taurus at a shop a year ago for $100, but never shot it. Really light weight and it had a ported barrel. I traded it for a Glock 17.

I bought a Taurus Tracker SS 22 MAG back in October and have yet been able to purchase a scope mount for it. Taurus just keeps telling me to try back next month with no idea of when or if they will be getting any ever. Taurus' mount is through the vent rib so no drilling is required. I am scared to think what will happen if I need a part for it?!?!
Also, I have found that the spacing between the cylinder and back of the frame is so tight I must slam it shut or the cylinder binds when cocking the hammer. It is so tight that I can not use Winchester 22 MAG ammo, the cylinder will not turn. Only Remington and CCI seems to work OK.
I wish I had bought a Ruger.
