    Double check your s/n.

If it is just a C prefix that means production between 1948 and 1967 and with the number given I'd put it around 1951-52

If it has a C and an N prefix my reference books do not cover such a prefix.

That is the number the seller sent me.
I have never seen a N in one either

checked my references again and there are no 38's with a CN prefix or any other letter followed by an N

however I did pay a little more attention to mfg. years and I was wrong on my original ... if the s/n has only the letter C followed by the numbers given the mfg. year was 1948.

if the revolver is enroute to you double check the s/n and let us know, if it has not shipped ask seller to double check it.

if this revolver is really marked as the seller has said we are going to have a real mystery on our hands.

Due the spacing between the C and numbers someone could have stamped a N in there as a dept mark or something like that.
It's enroute, I will put it to the magnifing glass when it gets here to check the font and see if they match
