Scope For HK93
I want either a Hensoldt or Schmidt&Bender military 4x scope to go with the factory claw mounts I already have. However, everything I've seen by either manufacturer is cammed for .308, not .223. Does what I'm looking for even exist?

DWS, There was never a caliber specific S&B scope offered by HK. The S&B scopes all shared a common part number 400 017 and were used on the 91,93, and 94 rifles. I purchased one back in the early 1980's and although I never did use it on my HK-93, it did work well on my HK-91 and my Greek licensed copy from Springfield Armory. The Zeiss scopes however WERE caliber specific and carried different part numbers- 224 044 (.308) and 224 056 (.223). I remember this as the Zeiss scope I ordered back in 1982 came in a box clearly marked .223. When this was replaced the new box was marked .308. These were just plain cardboard boxes and not commercial Zeiss packaging. DSA inc.
in Barrington, IL www.dsarms.com has a number of HK-93 parts and kits available, you might contact them to see what they have to say...they may have scopes which have been cammed or adjusted for .223. What did you decide to do about the carry handle and port buffer? just interested.

Mark: Many thanks, I'll give dsarms a try. I seem to recollect having a 4x Hensoldt on a 93 years ago, but I could be wrong. I didn't think this would be as big a deal as it's turning out.
I've had an epb and bipod for some time, and got a carrying handle from somebody on Buddy's board about two weeks ago. All I need now is a scope!
Thanks again.

DWS, I dug a bit deeper into my HK archives and did indeed find the Hendsolt scope availble- part #2-99001 from March, 1980. Dealer cost was a princely $720 while the Scmiidt and Bender ran $412. I can see why the Hensolt scopes were discontinued! I still have the instruction manual from my HK-93 and it simply states that a telescopic sight with mount is available. No mention of the manufacturer. Keep me posted as to what you learn as I'm always interested in learning more about HK's.

Mark: I recall now that the Hensoldt cost more than the rifle (this was back in the days when B&B Sales in North Hollywood was selling NIB HK91's and 93's for $460). Will let you know what turns up. Thanks again.

IOR Valdada from Romania makes a 4x scope in two different reticles for either .308 or .223. It's called the M2 Tactical Rifle scope, this is not HK specific but looks to be a good scope. I don't know if it will give you proper eye relief for your HK. You can find them at Group Ketmer www.ketmer.com , I have ordered one for my self but it has not arrived yet.
