How to clean your gun with this electricty/solution

I DON'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS METHOD,BUT CAN IT HARM A GUN IN ANY WAY? THE REASON I ASK A FRIEND OF MINE HAD THIS DONE ON A WIN. .264 AND NOW THE SHELL GETS HUNG IN THE CHAMBER AFTER IT IS FIRERED.HE WONDERS IF SOME OF THE SOLUTION DIDN'T GET DRIED OUT OF THE CHAMBER AND IT PITTED.WE LOOKED,BUT IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE PITTED.ANY SUGGESTIONS AND INFO IS APPRECIATED.

    Outers has a kit called "Foul Out" that is designed to remove lead and copper fouling. An electric rod is placed in the barrel then plugged and filled with ammonia. The ammonia dissolves the fouling and the rod attracts it. This also dissolves any lubrication that is present. Try some teflon grease on the chamber walls and let it sit. A good application of oil may be all it needs. [This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 02-20-2002).]

    Here is a website with an inexpensive way to do the electro copper removal. At worst, it could be hard on finishes, but not the bore or chamber. http://www.storm.ca/~debin666/html/projects9.html

    One big key is that any time you do this you must first "DEGREASE" the barrel prior to inserting the rod or it will not work properly. Thanks for the link HEDOG pretty cool site. RG

    And, to finish rg666's post, you MUST re-oil the gun since the cleaner leaves in opened to corrosion.Try polishing the chamber a little and see if that does it.

    I've made one of these electric rod deals from this website, and used it for cleaning a terrible barrel on my Eddystone. It was hard going in the cleaning process using amonia, it didnt really work to well, until I filled the barrel with Butch's Bore Shine, and that made a biggeer difference than anything. I used vacum line rubber caps for plugs in the chamber, it worked ok, but try the valve stem way, maybe its better. The fluid you choose will foam a lot, but only about the last inch of barrel towards the muzzle will ever run out of fluid. If an outers kit works better and you know someone who has one, I'd say borrow it, cause although you can tell this method works, its just not the ticket without regular scrubbing included.
