Where can I find out how to match serial numbers and the date of manufacture for a-5's

  Look in the back of the Blue Book of Gun Values at the serializaton charts.

  Even better - Browning has an excellent "date your gun" page on the net. I used it last night to date and old Auto-5 my Dad had. It's here http://www.browning.com/services/dategun/dategun.htm
