A .357 in a long barreled revolver is plenty big for deer. But... if you have the bucks to buy those big fat calibers, go for it. Shucks, I would.

All I know is the 454 Casull and the 480 aren't for plinking. I've heard many people say they can't stand to fire more than a few rounds in a day, as the recoil is pretty serious. One of my good friends, who is an FFL holder and active collector, fired a box of 454 Casull ammo in one day and had a bruise on his palm for about a week. He's about 6'2" and goes about 350, so he can usually handle anything and everything. I guess they're just not much fun, but have unbelievable power.

I took a RUGER stainless 44 Mag REDHAWK with Papers and everything including box, however the dog eat one end of the box off, to a gun show today in FL. as trading stock. I paid $381.00 plus tax in 1983 fired less than 25 rounds in it. They offered me $250.00. Think I'll keep it. To this day I could'nt hit the broad side of a barn from inside the barn with it. Could be me!!!!! It is me. BobPS anyone want to buy a "Shiz Su Hat"

The 454 Casull is more powerful, then the .480 Ruger, then the reliable .44 mag, I personally bought the .454 Super Redhawk because you can shoot .45 Long Colts in it for plinking or practice.Take it from me , at the moment of truth on a whitetail you won't really notice the recoil that much, just remember,RECOIL=FUN, have fun...

The .480 splits the difference between the 44 mag and the .454. I have the .454 and I think I am going to get rid of it because it broke my hand a month back. Hate to do it but if I can't shoot all day long with a gun it's got to go. Besides I want a Ruger#1 in 218 Bee. Heck, if you want, give me a holler on the e-mail if interested.

Try a 357 Mag Ruger SA. I have an old model 30 carbine 3 screw SA. Hotter than the 357. goes right where I point it at 25 yds. not for sale. You should have a welder mask on when you shoot it.
