Economics and Powders
In keeping with the great economic news from Washington I am looking for an across the board loading powder. I presently load with Accurate 2520 for my .223 and .308. I will also this year start shooting the M1 at area Garand matches. Since I am now out of 2520 and can't get it readily around here I was wondering if there is any suggestions in the IMR, Hogdon, and Winchester powders. These three seem to be the only ones in stock in these parts. I crossed referenced with the RDC site and there does seem to be a lot of sharing of powders. If any body could help in possible suggestions I am all eyes.
If it helps I shoot 69gr/.223, 168gr/.308 and will probably load 168gr for the M1.

You can load all of them with IMR 4895. I actually had very good accuracy with 4895 in the .223. My favorite match load for the 30-06 was 46 grains of IMR-4895 pushing a 168SMK or 174 Gov match bullet. 0 -
"You can load all of them with IMR 4895"..........+1 0 -
Or the Hodgdon version, for that matter. If you can't find 4895 for some reason, you could do just as happily with RL-15, Varget, IMR4064 or IMR4320. 0 -
Another vote for Hodgdon Varget or IMR4895. I have had very good performance in several calibers with Varget. 0 -
i couldnt get ahold of imr4895 other then one pounds at almost 30 bucks. so went online and found imr4064 for 132 for 8lbs. gonna try that in my rifles as an all in one. 0 -
Try IMR 4064 have had great luck with it an it will work with everything your loading for an more. 0 -
Same as the rest. 4895 will work in anything just about and so will 4064. You may not get the best loads either for velocity or accuracy, but both will be decent. 0 -
I have been useing Hodgdon BLC2 for years and it works great 0
