I like H4895 for almost all rifle cartridges. In the 22-250 it gives good velocity, with less recoil than most other powders.

+1 on the 4895 but be careful when switching between H4895 and IMR4895, they are NOT the same.

A popular load from the '50s, 31 grains 3031 55 gr. Sierra. Not fast, but accurate in my Ruger 77 & T.C.R. Ed

My best accuracy and my load for 55g Nolser Bt's is Varget.

Well I see the varget in the Hornady loading book , but am concern with the caution about ball powders and storing ammo in the hot storage, heck how hot does it get where these guys are?

One of the greatest benefits of Varget is that it is Not temperature sensitive. I shoot in a wide variation in temperatures (from the teens into the high 90's) and have had very good luck with Varget.

    I use H414, and get 3750 fps with a 55 grain bullet.

I don't want to highjack your post but does anyone use
benchmark for the 22-250I have read that 33.5 gr is a good
starting point for a 50gr ballistic tip

    I use H-335
It has proved accurate and consistantly easy to load since its a ball powder.
