For someone to recommend this, going against published reloading data would be irresponsible on their part.I do not do it, and I don't think anyone would recommend it.Seeing as it was told to you,Do they do it? Best Dave

    It is fine to do.

A magnum primer has more power, a primers power is called its bristiance. In the real world in small cases with target loads I do not see any real difference when using a mag vs std primer. If you are concerned, drop the charge 1/10th grain and go from there.

I will load some up with both primers and post the chronograph results. I do not have clays so I'll use Bullseye for the test.

bpost has it right. Use them and drop the load a 1/10gr.

+1 on bpost post, you won't notice the difference.

Another vote with BPOST change of primers is to be watched very carefully when your loads at the top end in pressure.Your and other TARGET loads are much lower pressure. If you Chronograph the velocity might be slightly higher and point of impact slightly lower if you are shooting one handed bulls-eye type targets.
