Mascot sight rib on PPC gun

I just acquired a Smith & Wesson revolver set up for PPC. The gun has a winged sight rib marked "Mascot I". Does anyone know where I can get info on these ribs. I think this is a rib from the early days of PPC guns, much like the no longer available Bomar ribs.
