  a 405gr hard lead bullet over 30gr of H4198 in 45-70

  Have a contender barrel 10grs of 296 with hornady 100gr jhp or sierra 30 cal 110 gr hp both shoot great from this barrel. Best Dave

  Thanks for the replies. I have had fairly good luck with h-110 and lil'gun 10.5gr over a 100gr lead bullet.Decent velocity out of a 3" ruger sp-101. Dirty though. Anyone else tried this combo?

  Nope, never tried putting the powder OVER the bullet. [:0]
  
  I reloaded some 32 H&R and 32 Long for a guy who owned that same Ruger, but I gave the load sheets to him with the ammo. I do recall that I got better accuracy at under maximum speed. MUCH better.

  For .32 S&W Long, I use 90 gr. SWC Hornady over 2.5 gr. Unique. CCI 500 primers in R&P cases.

  WWII Vet...my favorite load for the 32 S&WL too.
