Is it possible to use large rifle magnum primers if you decrease the load, in place of large rifle primers?

  Yep, as a rule of thumb drop back 2gr and work your way back up 1/2gr at a time until your groups/velocity come back

  Just FYI,
  
  If using 308 or similar size case, reduce your load about 1 grain.
  
  If 30-06 or larger, you'll notice very little difference if any.
  
  I actually prefer them in my 30-06 with heavy loads of IMR4350.

  From my experience the difference is not noticeable. If you are on the top edge of the load I would back down .3 and try it first.
  
  I do not load standard rounds that hot so the substitution is never a problem and may improve your group size.
